Agreed, so happy Tony will retire a Chief, not bitter that he did what he felt he had to do. Wish him all the best in everything he does.

But man wouldn't it have been great to have him today against the Ravens. I can tell ya, he knows where the first down marker is.

Go Tony Gonzalez

Yeah, don't much care if he ends up with eleventy billion receiving yards. Don't care if he retires as a chief, especially after turning his back on them so that he could get a super bowl ring for himself.

I somehow doubt Walter Payton would have left the bears just to chase after a ring.

If he would have went to the Faiders, Donks or Dolts I would get this, but this is Atl, they are NFC. I would like to however make him sad that he left by getting into (actually winning would be better) the Superbowl during his playing time. But regardless Tony G is the BEST TE ever and spent most of his years with the Chiefs.

Some of you are just pathetic. You supported a guy for nearly 11 seasons, and now he is trash to you?

For the record, I don't like this anymore than you do. But I still think TG is probably my favorite player of all time. He was ran out by Carl and Herm. You would have done the same thing in his shoes.

The problem is we did support him for 11 seasons, paid his salary, cheered for him every week, and basicly kissed his a$$.
Then he decided KC wasn't good enough for him.
I will eventually get over it after he retires, (just see Neil Smith) but as long as he is on another NFL team, I'm gonna be ticked off at him.

Mainly it was directed towards Josh. But I like I have said, he was RAN out. He supported us through the last couple of years and he didn't play to lose, every week he was out there giving it his best, being one of the only Chiefs in the past few years giving effort.

I am glad to say I met a player that great. I understand you don't want to see him play for a different team and win. But one of these days he will retire as a Chief.

People don't need to bandwagon over Tony. What kind of person are they?

Pathetic? Me? I never said he was trash- he's the best TE to ever play this game, but when you consider KC good enough while things are good, and then split for another team because you need a super bowl ring, I would say TG took the pathetic route.

He was the only chief giving effort the last couple of years? You need to review tape, sir.

Best TE to ever play the game, and I'm damn glad he was a chief, but he's a falcon now because of a reason I consider tremendously selfish. You obviously have a different opinion.

I know two people that have met Gonzo in person and they both said he was a jerk.

So I say, "Tony who?"

Sean Ryan may not be as talented, but he's holding his own out there, and made another solid play on Sunday.

That being said, I still can't figure out why Gannon insisted that his TD would have been a good play for Baltimore to challenge. Yes, he fumbled... but he also recovered it... IN.THE.ENDZONE. It's a touchdown either way eh, Rich?

I really don't care where he retires from- that doesn't mean that I didn't cheer him on as a chief, or that I don't realize how good he is, or what great things he has done.

Anyone see that ESPN thing with Tony G and new coaches making their stamp and what not?

He paid $12 grand for a parking spot

I'd be pretty pissed if they didn't reimburse me the money but I guess that was another reason on top of not wanting to rebuild as to why he wanted to leave.

But whatever...don't really care about TG anymore. I'm a Chiefs fan first and foremost not a fan of individual players...at least not on other teams or former Chiefs on other teams.

Carl was like a father to Derrick Thomas, spent a lot of time at the hospital after the wreck, and Derrick really looked up to him. I respect for that if nothing more. I do think he brought a lot of good teams, I liked Marty Schottenheimer but then again I also wanted him gone. I think Carl was a good GM but his time had come. Absolutely. Last I checked TG isn't even a member of the Chiefs. I will root for the players that are currently on our roster - who are taking the bad with the good - enroute to a championship!!!
Not sayin' TG didn't have his share of crap teams surrounding him. He did. And they made him look pretty darn good imo. If only he could had stuck it out here for the last years of his career, he would had got his ring. You'll see....

Let me ask you a hyopothetical question.

I have been a Chiefs fan now for 20+ years. I eat, sleep and breath Kansas City Chiefs football. What would you say if I decided that I want a team that wins a SB so I decided to become a Patriots fan. What kind of fan would I be? Most would say a bandwagon fan. That is exactly how I feel about Tony.

I was a Chiefs fan long before Tony arrived and I will be a fan long after he retires. He decided that he did not want to be a part of what is happening in Kansas City and that is his choice. I will not however start cheering for ATL just because he is there. I have no ill will towards the guy but I have about as much loyalty to him as he has for us as fans.

Are you on glue? How can he get almost 100 receptions from a team that gave up on him? Tony himself said he wants to join a SB contender before he retires. He has said it for the last 2 years. That is almost the definintion of giving up on us.

Well to me there is a diffrance from being a fan and being a player. While we as fans want our team to win we are not judged in our everyday lifes by what our football team does. Its not OUR lifes goal to win a championship like it is for some players. I see tony as a guy who has a life dream to be a champion and is doing what he can to get there. Tony WORKED his butt off the last couple of years even after not getting his trade he asked for last season can you realy say he quit. He continued to play for the better of the team. And I dont see how you could say that he was not giveing it 100%. Tony above all eles WANTS TO WIN. Pro athletes get bashed on time and time again for playing for money. You get a guy who yes makes alot of money but also cares about winning and hes some bash on him or say he gave up on the team. At some point after the years pile up I think ANY PLAYER ON ANY TEAM deserves the right to say hey I have not been able to get a championship here let me move on. Thats just how i see it. Tony did ask to be let go but I did not see him quit. Quiting would be not giveing it 100% on the field. I did not see that. IMO that is not quiting its doing all you can do to win.

As for the fan question I think that if you change teams after that long thats your right. Now if you go to a team like the pats see them win a superbowl then change back yes i would say thats a banwagon fan. But if you stick it out with that team for years going through the good times and the bad. Then No i think thats just makeing a change. I would not consider that being a bandwagon fan. some may but i dont. GO CHIEFS!!!

Ok, Canada, what was meant by 'the chiefs giving up on Tony' is the youth movement crap. Yes, TG did very well last season. I'm not putting down the chiefs for that but he deserves a SB ring and with the chiefs in their present state its not going to happen any time soon.
