Every week, on the Atlanta Falcons message board, we have a poll to vote for and award the player who brought the proverbial "Hick'ry Stick" to the opponent for the week. Anyway, since I know in his heart, he will always be a Chief, I wanted to share with you that Tony Gonzalez was selected this week.

Good Luck this year!

Yeah- just can't be bothered to be too excited about this. Maybe if he hadn't been looking for a ring for just himself, he'd have made some great catches and made a difference for us against the Ravens or Raiders this year.

I can't even say his replacement has contributed, because we don't have that guy yet.

Welcome to the Crowd. Not sure too many here will be all that happy for his accomplishments as a Falcon. Many view what he did as abandonment.

Yeah this thread embarasses me for the board, we have treated Raider fans better then this. I really dont like the way this board is going, the originals as always are full of class (most at least). But a fair amount of the new posters have no respect.

In the past if someone came on and was respectful this board for the most part showed respect. Not so much here lately and that is really sad.

BTW to the original poster, THANKS for sharing, most of us still love what Tony did when he was with us and wish him all the best.

It sounds to me that the original poster is just rubbin' it in. Thats ok. But I'm a Chiefs fan. Tony use to be a Chief. But he decided KC wasn't good enough for him anymore. Not me!!

I am willing to go on record that I have absolutely no problem with Tony Gonzalez leaving. I really don't.

Let me reiterate this...

HE HAS NEVER WON A PLAYOFF GAME.

that is not a slight on him, but on the management that refused to do what was necessary to put a winning team on the field.

I've met Tony a couple of times, not as a fan, but as a person. He was always so gracious and upstanding. He gave KC the lion's share of a hall of fame career. they gave him Damon Huard. How does he NOT ask to leave?

Let's also not forget that he wasn't sitting out, not demanding a trade. We traded him, and we were compensated.

I think he is the best tight end of all time. The absolute best, and there is no arguing with it whatsoever.

I think he deserves a fair chance at a ring. Maybe if he had 5 more years in him, we could have given him that chance. He doesn't want to play for 5 more years. He doesn't want his career to dwindle with age and injury. He wants to retire the best. He deserves to have the next two years be playoff years, and then get out of the game with his knees intact.

All that said, eff the Falcons. Eff every other team in the NFL. You all can choke, for all I care.

Go Chiefs.

(now I have to go post roughly the same sentiment on the Vikings board.)

Falcons do look freaking good, though, dang.

I can't help but think "I wanna git ya in the georgia dome, on the fifty yard line while the dirty-birds kick it for 3"

Agreed, leave it up to the fans in Atlanta to not realize how good he is until the SECOND week of the season.

Just teasin'. I have no problem with even your behaviour here, so far.

NOBODY, I repeat, NOBODY deserves anything. You earn what you get in this life, life is not going to give you anything. I have no doubt that the Former Chiefs Player Who Shall Remain Nameless is a very upstanding and decent man, but to say that he deserves something, that is a little silly.

Remember guys, he has been wanting out of Kansas City for a long time now.

Is that a Ludacris song i read lol. I liked your post before the Luda lyric. I agree with you. I wonder if people acted the same way when Neil Smith left us for denver?? But the bar i go watch the chiefs game at has a falcons fan who is willing to buy me beer because we gave his team TG.

Agreed. He sure would've been extremely nice to have in our first 3 games now. But since he got selfish and defected, screw him. I hope this city changes the locks, when he comes back for the Hall....

Oh bite me!

He had every right to want a SB ring. Yes, he would of made some great catches had he been here but I don't see the chiefs going to the SB anytime soon.
