the Chiefs will have a top 10 defense? If so, they have a looooong way to go! They are TERRIBLE! My kids team tackles better! Sutain is going to get his *** handed to him on more than 1 occasion this year. :mob:

On a positive note, I did think the O line opened up a few holes in the 1st half. If Bennett can run up the gut the way he did, I would assume that LJ will be even better. Protection was ok but still needs a lot of work.

Bye the time we get to our bye week we won't have much of a defense left.

Well, it wasn't pretty, but I was impressed by most of the short yardage stops! It was still preseason and all, and the Saints are a great offense. We need some work, but I think we will still be a top 10 D!!! I can tell that Herm is wanting us to play hard nose, grind it out football. So all the offensive minded fans aren't going to be pleased!

I consider myself a "football-minded" kinda guy. I appreciate a dominant defense and a dominant offense, but I despise an inability to show either. If the Chiefs can become a defensive stand-out, then that's great. But, How about bringing along both?

I have little doubt that our defense is much-improved, over recent history. But is it only because of the lack of offense? Had our offense put-up tenty points, would the defense have allowed fourty?

Man, you must have been watchin a different preseason than me! I see NO improvement from recent years. So they had a couple goal line stands. Great! Can we move the goal line to the middle of the field?

I really don't know what to say. They just look horrible all the way around! It's fairly depressing! I hope the O line can make holes for LJ the way they did for Bennett last night. If they do that, we may be able to move the ball a little but you know what that means.... load up the box because the ****ty QB is going to be running for his life while throwing to receivers who can't catch!

Nice exaggeration. The fact that some people expect a dissapointing season translates directly into guaranteed losses. How about Canadas unbelievable prognostication skills? Are you not confident that you are right?

Aside from the Drunkhillbilly, noone here has not conceded to the possibility of a winning season, at some point.

Bottom line... everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that we will have a bad year, yours is that it will be a good year. No need to get salty because you disagree with me, or whoever.

Of course, that also is your right.

Having a bad day are we???????

I have grown up a Chiefs fan and come to expect good play by the team so when I see what is going on here it pisses me off! Kinda like your doing right now!

We are all entitled to our opinions. So while you continue to be the resident HOMER and look at things through your rose colored glasses, I prefer to be a little more realistic! With the exception of a couple here, I think most are anticipating a below avg season for the Chiefs. I guess we will be less frustrated at the end of the year because we will have given into the fact that we were not going to have a good year while you will be trying to figure out what went wrong! I think we all would like to be eatin crow at seasons end but you know as well as everyone else does that it isn't going to happen! So while your optimism is nice sometimes, reality should set in about game 6 or 7 and we will address this thread then when your *****ing about how bad this and that are while at the same time trying to find something positive to say about the way they are playing and struggling to come up with anything that makes any sense at all.

I'm as pessimistic about the season as the next guy, but since when did it become a crime to be optimistic even if it is as you say unrealistic in your opinion? Since when did being a "homer" become something bad; you should see me on game day. Why is it that people who choose to see a silver lining wherever they can in life or about their favorite NFL team should become the target of berate and ridicule? ...Just askin?

Never have you seen me bag on anyone about being optimistic until they start baggin on me for being pesamistic. I have no problem with people wanting their team to do well. Hell I do!! But when someone try's to shove it down my throat and berate me for being realistic, it bothers me! Maybe not a top five yet, but possibly a top ten. The only thing I've seen the first string "D" do is keep the games close enough to be winnable. I kinda thought that's what a defense does.

Another thought...they're running a cover2...if you are running a cover2 in a vanilla form you lose a lot of your strengths (blitz packages, etc.) I still think a lot of the problem is attitude (which is 80% of defense) Going back to the Miami game, no one wanted to chase Ronnie Brown down and put him on the turf...he bounced off guys and kept going while other guys stood and watched assuming someone else was going to make the tackle. A good defense doesn't always make the first tackle, but when the RB/WR breaks that first tackle they should have 4 guys arriving to pounce on him.

Preseason is essentially "try-outs" for the fringe players. Most of your starters, especially the stars, only play enough to get their timing back, unless their in a situation to fight for their job...

Sure the team would love to be 4-0 at the end of preseason, but the larger concern is getting out of the preseason healthy and with the best 53 players you can.
