Filed to ESPN: The Kansas City Chiefs claimed WR Chris Chambers on waivers. So he's staying in the AFC West.

That may be so, but we still have a lot of extra money to waste seeing as how we didn't spend a whole during the off-season. Overall I like the pickup. I think he can help our team.

Can he play o-line?

Bold statement considering there's been no mention of what we'll be paying him. :bananen_smilies046:

By claiming him off waivers, we take over what's remaining on his contract which means we'll be responsible for about 2.4 million for the rest of the year.

2.4 million for a guy with 9 catches.. those are some expensive catches.

Its not like we dont have the cap room. And if he can chip in the rest of the season I think that its well worth it for a look at him. He can probley still give a good game or to.

Little down side to this move, if he sucks we release him this off-season. If he turns it around, we get a steal. Tell me how I'm wrong.

There is plenty of money to go around, salary cap resets (or may not be one!) next year.

He's a free agent after this season.

True, but if he has a good season here he will probably be encouraged to stay. His better years are probably behind him, and having studied the AFC West for seven years he will probably thrive more here. If he goes somewhere like the NFC East, there would be a serious learning curve, and lots of homework, which I don't see him wanting. If he is a free agent he wants to get paid one more time. He would stay a Chief.

I think it would be nice for him to go ahead and give Haley the Chargers playbook. Surely he has one laying around somewhere.

Maybe would should start him at Center. It's probably a good move if we were looking at improve out WR corp. It does NOT help us with our offensive line which is the failure of the NFL right now. He won't be worth anything to us until Cassel gets time.

Hmmm. Looks like were striving to be mediocre. The year is lost. Why blow our money on washed up players?

Look, you could plug in the top three top flight WR's in the NFL and it would be a marginal improvement. When your O line can't protect the QB or open running lanes, it defeats the purpose. If you can't pass block, you can't pass very well. And like it was said earlier, he has 9 catches on a team with the ability to throw the ball. Maybe he's the next Eddie Kennison. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

the main reason we picked him up was to raid his brain for the chargers game.

Who cares, there is no money wasted. 2.4 million is pocket change, especially since we are so far below the cap. Dont freak out :/

Huh? We're paying this guy 2.4 mil for chargers info? Get real. :lamende:

if he can get his head on strait, he can be a 40-60 catch receiver. if he gets 25 with us this year i consider that a +.

I can't wait to watch Chris catch TDs from the endzone . Doesn't matter which one as they both kick butt!

If he can do about the same as what Bobby Wade has done that will be a great help to the chiefs and open things up a little for bowe. I dont love the pick up but its one that i could learn to love. GO CHIEFS!!!

Maybe the fact that he was picked up by another AFC West team will motivate him to elevate his play, especially against the Chargers...or not; just a thought. :D

Eydugstr

I think he's an upgrade. It's not like our other recievers have accomplished a lot, even when the ball hits their hands.

Doesn't fix our O-line problems, but our O-line is so screwed up it it'll take a huge draft to fix it anyway, instead of hoping to find good linemen on waivers mid-season.

Probably one of the reasons. The other being that we aren't exactly loaded with talent at WR.

Not 2.4 million. Prorated amount based upon games left, so just over $1mm. Anyhow, he is better than our worst receiver, so they made a move to make this team better.

There are no rockstars WR's or OL being released to the waiver wire. It's more a move to improve the depth of this football team IMO.
