Okoye was a bad man, no doubt about it. And probably the most feared running back in the league. Until...

Can you imagine what a one two punch run offense, of The Nightmare and the Priest. Okoye at FB and Priest at Tailback. That would have been something to see. Okoye beating your butt down with his punishing runs, then the next play Priest ducks and cuts and is gone.

Yes that was a great play, but how often did that happen?

I can't recall another hit that didn't involve an injury that ended one man's career. Can you?

Okoye was freak, but above all-his game was based on straight up intimidation. With one hit that was all gone and before you know it Okoye was a forgotten man and now I was introduced to Barry Word.

Well, there was also a lingering knee injury, I think, that had something to do with the end of his career.

Besides, it was Atwater. He could lower the boom like almost no other. (*cough* Kevin Ross *cough*)

It's really not that impressive of a hit when you watch it. Yes, it is a famous 'hit' but it's nothing special. Okoye is planting his feet (on his heels) to make a cut and Atwater runs into him then gives him the forearm push.

Watch it close (pause at the right moments) and you'll see what I mean.

Not to take anything away from Atwater, that guy hit like a freight train.

I couldn't disagree more. In the context of the moment it was literally jaw dropping. Christian Okoye was(for lack of a better term) the Mike Tyson of running backs at that time. An nobody had ever seen Christian Okoye get cracked like that.

I must agree, There will never be a single player ever like The Man, I hope and pray that the Chief's strife to find that person, and become that team again.

Just like Christian, who was the nigthmare for opposing defense, Derrick was a opposing teams offense nightmare!
