I made a thread about my disgust for Cassel and everyone tells im a hater, but after the last two weeks how can you ignore it anymore? He is not a good QB, he had plenty of protection today and underthrew almost every ball, if you still think he is good you are a blind kool aid drinker, Cassel stinks.:pointlaugh:

I dont think your wrong for today. Its not all his fault but he defently did not do anything to help the Chiefs compete today. Cassel is defently haveing a bad stretch but its to early to give up on him.

It's too early to make a judgment still, I think, but Cassell's play lately is admittedly starting to make me nervous.

Cassel stunk, but the receivers did drop 10 million passes.

Definitely overrated to begin with. Absolutely sucked the past few games even with protection like I have been saying all year. Holds on to the ball and dances way too much even with protection especially today. Good QB's find at least someone to throw to or at least throw it to where only the WR can get it. There has to be someone open at some point most the time. The WR absolutely sucked as well and didn't help Cassel AT ALL. Not all his fault but certainly not worth even half of what we paid.

I honestly think Brody Croyle has more upside, he has a way stronger arm, he has a quick release, he can fit the ball in a smaller place then Cassel, sometimes he gets ****y though and tries to make something out of nothing and he's injury prone, but I would rather have him right now then Cassel.

I don't think Cassel will ever lead a team to a Superbowl. I think he has the potential to be a great backup, but never anything more than that. He holds on to the ball way too long and has a slow release. His arm strength is also nothing to write home about. I wonder what the Donks would be willing to offer for him in the off-season. If McDaniels wanted him last year, I'm sure he'd be interested in him next year.

The past two games, he has played about as well as I expected him to, when the season started.

Terrible.

But that is only two games.

And it doesn't make your case any stronger to exaggerate what kind of protection he has been granted.

He was still steadily pressured and always crowded in the pocket.

I din't like trading for him. I HATED giving him the contract extention. And I have serious concerns about his ability to ever become a good starting QB in The NFL.

But I am not disapointed with him. He has played better than I thought he would.

I understand why you don't believe in Cassel, and your entitled to your opinion.

I am starting to lose hope. I am sick of sticking up for this guy, at first I didn't like the idea of the trade, then I thought it would be a fresh start.

Now, I stick up for him every week, but I just don't know how much longer I can do it.

Cassel is good when he has time and his players help him out. But he folds under pressure. He won't just throw the ball away.

I think he is on the wrong team.

I realy hope that he does turn out to be a great QB for the Chiefs but like you I am starting to lose hope after the last couple of games.

I could take the loseing games as long as he was not one that stood out as reason why the Chiefs were loseings. Realy at the start of the year he was playing well. He was not turning the ball over even though he was running for his life half the time. But the last couple of weeks he has been on the list as reason the Chiefs lost to me. I hope this is just a small bump in the road and he is able to get it together but he does hold on to the ball to long and right now thats leading to turnovers. Hopefuly they get this issue fixed. I wont say that I have lost all hope but i am beging to wonder if the Chiefs made a huge mistake by tradeing for him.

That kind of thinking makes to much sense for this team. I cant do it. But i am very sick when it comes to the Chiefs. Kind of obsessive. I think i need help

You can look back to some of my older posts to see that I was never a fan of signing him to a big contract before we were able to see how he does when not playing in what had been the most explosive offense in NFL history the year before he filled in for Brady.

I'm not ready to say that Cassel is not going to be a solid QB, but this is the first game where you can make no excuses for him whatsoever. The protection was excellent all day, receivers were open, and the opportunities were there with the interception and fumble recoveries. Cassel just stunk up the joint.

The deep drop by Wade was more or less Cassel's fault, though everyone seems to be all over Wade (including Haley on the sideline). He is neither big nor fast, and Cassel should know that better than anybody. He was 10 yards ahead of his man, and Cassel just had to give him something he could catch. Instead he overthrew it just enough so that Wade couldn't get two hands on the ball.

The potential TD throw to Charles was awful. He literally just had to quickly dump it off in front of Charles for an easy touchdown. Instead he hesitated and as a result was pressured and caused to throw a poor pass behind him.

Like I've said all season, the problem is only 50% offensive line. Cassel took a ton of sacks last year with New England. He doesn't get rid of the ball fast enough.

I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt until we have better personnel around him, but I put most of yesterday's loss on his shoulders. Way too many chances for him in a home game for us to get blown out.

You don't have to like Cassel right now. I don't mind anyone being disappointed or frustrated with the team. My only annoyance is when people throw up their hands and say "this (coach/player/scheme) was a mistake and it will never get better!"

You can't turn around a HORRIBLY run franchise in one year, and it hasn't even been a year.

I would like to see what Cassel and Haley do with a GOOD offensive line and talent at the WR position.

Seriously, we need a new:

right guard.
right tackle.
center.
tight end.
wide receiver.
fullback.
RB2.
CB2.
free safety.
strong safety.
ILB.
OLB.

I mean, most of those positions could be addressed with our top draft pick, and it would be legitimate.

My problem with Cassel is that he looks like he's doing a waltz in the pocket the entire time...step, step, step, step...wind up and throw or take a sack. He had MORE than enough time to find a receiver to dump it off or like a NFL QB should do just throw it away. Instead he wandered over to the d-lineman that had broken thru and took many a sack or ran out of bounds for a loss.

I'll admit I liked the signing of Cassel but not the contract extension. He hadn't started but for a few games in an offense that was explosive. Yesterday I saw him with plenty of time dance around the pocket, not set his feet and then over or under throw passes consistently. The guy had a QB rating of 14 and I don't care how terrible the line is...a QB rating of 14??

The pass that stuck out in my head was when he had Charles running a fade towards the pylon and all he had to do was put a little air on it and let Charles run under it. Instead he wings it at his helmet with the defender catching up as Charles adjusted for it. Really?!?

I can't believe I'm going to say this but the major difference that I saw and liked was Brodie coming out and rocketing the ball at a guy instead of staring the guy down, looking somewhere else, looking back to the guy (yep still open) and then watching as the defender caught up or the receiver couldn't adjust to a poor throw.

Pretty much how I feel all around. I don't think Brodie is necessarily a better quarterback, but it's obvious that he has a better arm and pocket presence than Cassel does. He made some really nice strong throws, particularly the deep out to Wade on the left. I don't think Cassel has the arm strength to make that throw.

That's exactly how I feel I know it's all hindsight but I never wanted Cassel signed, but I thought he would be better then he is, his arm looks weak like Chad Pennington weak. He underthrows guys from 35 yards away. I remember when Brodie was in the draft they took him Vince Young and some other Qb's to see how far they could throw the ball and it had remain in between a coned area Brodie threw it almost 75 yards. If your going to be inaccurate at least have the arm strength to scare the secondary.

Well, I'm still in a 'give benefit of doubt mode'...too early to judge, all team factors considered that can affect a QB negatively.

Also we can't always know what might be going on behind the scenes, such as maybe Cassel had an injured or sore arm, but not enough to be concerned over, yet a slight injury did affect his ability after all.

There were good passes thrown by Cassel yesterday, right on the mark...but were dropped. It has to be frustrating for a QB to do his job & other's aren't, which make him look bad. That frustration takes it's toll on performance overall emoitionally...Cassel is only human, it has to affect him negatively when he throws balls on the mark and they're dropped...of which there have been many this season. :(

I actually liked Thigpen as well, I think we should have kept him addressed our line issues, and in the 2010 draft picked up a high round QB, but Thigpen is off the table.

Brodie is done, if Brodie had taken as many hits as Cassel has this season, he would be on injured reserve right now, the guys is like Kolby Smith, a perennial injury waiting to happen.

Brodie also actually gets rid of the football, but I'm not going to get into it. They both have their good points and their bad points.

Hey, Brodie has done great this season, he has not broke yet!:D

I am ready to see him play more. Send a message, that has been the theme from the QB Coach, OC Coach, and the Head Coach, wait that is the same coach, mummmm, think maybe a problem here?

that is his history. But I am all for letting him play for anther week to see if it were to light a fire under Cassel and he steped it up. And if brodie did play realy well and the Chiefs looked better with him Let him play. At least till he gets hurt

That's all im talking about as well, im not saying hes better but give him a chance, right now Cassel isn't working, and if it makes Cassel better then great.
