this is good!!! with hali who improved vastly at outside linebacker and vrabel on the outside (would like some depth behind vrabel) and derrick johnson coming back healthy full of energy and fight in the middle.... all i want is dansby,,, we get him put im with those three will have a really good lb corps, plus young d line (need a nt) a good corner and a ok other corner, page coming back healthy... we need another safety (fa rolle, or draft berry) and with crennel im excited to see this d blast up the rankings next year

I'm glad to see that we resigned Vrabel. He might have lost a little step, but his knowledge of the game and work ethic are huge to the development of our Defence. Also, I like putting the 1st rd tender on DJ. We will not lose a quality player with out getting something in return.

Maybe we could even move Vrabel inside and acquire a pass rusher, or acquire a late round 3rd down specialist. Either way, nice to have him back. I'm kind of flattered that he was interested in coming back actually.

IMO it's a good thing that they re-signed him. When he retires I think Andy Studebaker should have a good chance at being the starter!

So you'd want to release Brian Water (who recently won the Man of the year award!), Glen Dorsey and Tysan Jackson who were both 1st round picks that are still starters? Are you crazy?

The Vrabel signing is def. a good thing.

Our defense was ranked in the bottom 3 overall last year. Offensively, they showed a lot of growth once JC started running well. I am not too worried about the offense come next year, as i think Weiss, along with a few new players and another year of exp under their belts, will do just fine. They are only going to get better.

But this defense still needs help. In a lot of places. I am salivating over the draft right now. Our top three choices are going to be so huge. Think if we got Eric Berry with 1, Golden Tate 2a, and Cam Thomas, the NT at 2b...assuming he slides that far. Which is totally possible.

We would instantly upgrade our DL, Safety (in a huge way), and WR. With the addition of Cam Thomas at NT, it could really improve the LB corps as well. And further give our secondary that much more time. NT is the most pressing issue this offseason, and i really dont want to reach for a NT at 5 overall. I either hope they fill it by trading down to get Dan Williams, or take Cam Thomas later. I think our corners were in good shape before the Pioli era, so no problems there...

Its all about defense guys. We need a play maker on defense real bad. ERIC BERRY, is just that. i really hope Okung is off the board so we have to take Berry. Would really set us up for a good draft if so...we can get upgrades in the OL via free agency, i think Albert is good enough to be our LT of the future, i really do.

The best players on a bad team may look good when compared to those around them, but take a realistic look at what they've actually achieved. The Chiefs have "loser syndrome". The O & D line expect to be beat and then find a way to make it happen. The Pittsburgh game showed there were some studs on the D line, but if they aren't going to play like that every game, they need to be shown the same door as Larry Johnson.

So who do you propose we get to fill these spots? We drafted Albert and 2 DE's in the last 2 years to address these needs. If you expect them to just come out of college and be pro bowlers you're foolish. That's a rarity in the NFL.

First off, I agree with the notion that both lines need upgrades.

However...

You don't remove the solid pieces you have in place, just because the whole of the group isn't working out.

By the irrationality that your reply conveys, you would fire all players every year and start over.

Just a little point that you may have overlooked with your overreaction...

The offensive line consists of five positions, and our defensive line consists of three.

And one bad apple can make the whole batch stink.

But there are still some good apples.
