Our game with the Cards last night had all the markings of a great game, that is until after the first 49er score, then it was bring on UGLY because the rest of the game was horrible and tedious to watch, but I'll take it because it's literally been years since we beat those damned Cards. Glad to see they are still trying to live off of their "great" WRs and neglecting their Oline...again...

I love my team but honestly, they played like crap and Jesus H. Christ, Alex can you at least throw the ball more then 30 yards, I think not!!!! Thank God for Shawntae Spencer who's INT pretty much gave us the win.

Sweets, you're missing the point...Alex Smith didn't throw the ball over 30 yards because he rarely had time against the Cardinals pass rush. Both teams played good football last night. It wasn't entertaining football, but it was good football. The problem wasn't the offense, but rather great play by both defenses.

I didn't get to see a whole lot of the game, just a few minutes and then the highlights. From what I did see, it looked like Joe Staley was doing well as the starting right tackle. Or am I wrong?

Oh and don't you think that the 49ers have kept Dilfer as backup for a reason. They're modeling themselves after the Ravens Super Bowl team. Great defense, and a no turnover offense. The difference is we have a team full of young studs, as opposed to aging veterans. Willis, Lawson, Clements, Gore, Smith, Davis, etc. By the way, Alex Smith played a lot like Dilfer did in the Ravens Super Bowl year...turn around hand-off the ball, drop 3 steps, dump off the ball...run off the field for punting unit, gain field position.

Oh and the special teams looked great.

Finally, the Cards are a lot better, especially on defense than everyone is expecting. Adrian Wilson is a beast, he runs like a corner and hits like a linebacker...

I think a little bit of good defence and a little bit of shaky conservative offence. I still think Defence is gonna have the edge early in the season. Offences will get rolling, some later than others!! :bananen_smilies046:

rbedgood, Alex never throws the ball over 30 yards and when he tries it's intercepted or falls short. I disagree, our offense played like crap, our defense pretty much kept us in the game and made the first score, and got the last INT to end the game, lucky us.

We just saw different things in the game...they didn't call a lot of routes out that far, and he didn't have time to look deep most of the time. When he did he put it right on his receiver. DJAX dropped a bomb in the endzone that went right through his hands. If the play call is for screen passes, quick outs and slants, and the defense is blitzing nearly every down you can't expect the QB to throw 20+ yards down the field. Unless you have kept your RB and TE in to block the blitz. Which the 49ers didn't do often as Gore and Davis are primary receiving options.

The only disappointment to me on offense was Gore dropping balls (probably a by-product of the broken hand he just returned from) and the running game was sub-par, but most teams running games are at this time of year (see numbers from LT, SJAX, LJ, Rudi Johnson, Maroney, Ronnie Brown and both RBs in New Orleans)

Relax Sweets...I wasn't trying to call you out, more calm you down. The 49ers are looking very encouraging for a young team that is exiting the rebuilding stage. They're going to contend for a playoff spot this year on that defense alone, and the future is bright.

I hear you and understand. We've been through a pretty ugly spell the last 4-5 years, and I for one am very encouraged, not just by the win, but by the signs of improvement.

1) Defense is aggressive, strong, and quick to the ball.
2) Very few mental errors, including penalties and turnovers
3) Offense moved the ball when they needed to at the end of the game
4) Special teams looked awesome
5) Probably most important, fundamentals on display from tackling (seems basic, but it isn't), to WRs blocking downfield, to guys getting out of bounds on the last few drives...(that actually cost us a game in STL a couple years ago)

Bad thing (one of many) about working evenings is that you miss MNF. At least you guys were able to move on the ball. We couldn't manage to get our act together throughout the entire game. And our defens seemed to look better in preseason. AND we cut Phinisee!!

Well it sounds as if you probably won't be back to read this, but I will not delete your membership just yet. I respect your decision not to return, but people change their minds. I have not disagreed with much of what you had to say, and did not find any of your posts in this forum to be inappropriate. I have responded to your PM and feel that I, personally, have done all I know to do to make you feel welcome here. If a few dissenting Chiefs fans here are enough to make you feel that unwelcome then perhaps you're right about this not being the place for you. I have enjoyed your contributions to this point. FWIW

I have already stated that I mean nothing by it and am just kidding around. It is nothing for her to be upset about. That is if she comes back. I hope she does but I am not going to lose sleep over it.

I want members to WANT to be here.

Wow. They even lost to the Lambs. They really are ugly.:D

I was just teasin'!:D

She just sounded like she was bummed about how bad her team really is.

We have had a better season, since then, and can thank our lucky stars that SD and Oakland lost.

Lets all root for the Titans tomorrow!

GO CHIEFS!!!
