King Carl was still here. Heres to smooth negotiations between Berrys' agent - Chad Speck - and Pioli...

I still remember the John Tate fiasco. I never want that to happen again...

Are we just comparing Berry to Tate or any other 1st round picks or was/is Tate represented by the same agent? I think Pioli has a whole different mind set that CP has! Thank the football gods that CP is gone!

I am VERY happy the CP is not here for the Berry signing. I remmeber watching how crass CP was on Hard Knocks when it came to signing Bowe. Carl seemed to have no respect for the higher profile rookie. Berry is a high profile top five pick that might have hated KC after two years with King Carl. Look at what happened with Tate, J Allen etc!
Berry has Pioli, Haley, and Crennel and all three will treat him right.

If I remember right, Pioli didn't really hesitate to sign Jackson once the top pick went. I think most of the top picks and owners understand the salary structure should be based upon the top pick and go down with respect to where that player was taken.

You are absolutely correct. Jackson was signed and in camp quickly. Let's hope Berry does not miss any camp. That would be a huge move for the Chiefs. He will be the heart and soul of the defense.

Jackson was actually one of the last 8 or so 1st rounders to sign last year. What usually happens is agents wait for comparable guys to sign so they know what their leverage is, and that might have been what happened. I think they were waiting for Aaron Curry to sign first.
