I'm glad Kolby Smith is finally gone. Seemed like a nice guy, but this came about a year too late.

Bit surprised about Smith and Gutierrez this early. Neither were probably going to make the team, but they were extremely familiar with the system and there were probably other guys who I would have seen going first.

I like smith, but he was going for the trifecta of IR seasons. he's an injury risk and we've got some good young backs behind him.

Smith just could not stay on the field I forgot he was still on the team. With the addition of Jones and Mccluster going to see some time at RB most Likely this is not a surprise to me.

Not to mention Moore. According to Ol' Bob he's soaking up what Jones says and does like a sponge. No wait, a ShamWow.

Man that sucks.... Hes one of the few who took Haleys training regimen from the start. But, he was an underachiever. I still remember the Raider game when he had 150 yds and 2 TD his first start. I hope he finds a team that needs a loyal player (not in the west) cuz this guy is as Even Keel as they come. Best of Luck Kolby! Once a :chiefs:Chief always a Chiefs if u ask me.

I am a Kolby fan, I hoped he would work out, but injured to often, he could have been great, best wishes to him, I hope he can find a new team, and be successful.

I agree. I'm surprised he's gone.

Oh well, the team has to be cut down to 53 players in the end and it has to start somewhere.

How is anyone surprised Kolby Smith is gone? It's like running on grass in cleats causes the guy's ankles to snap.

He's a pretty talented back, but we're pretty ok for running backs, and he just can't stay healthy.

Yeah, I had hoped to see Smith break out, he certainly looked like he had talent based on what we saw of him, but if you cannot remain on the field, you cannot remain on the team.

How is Brodie Croyle still on the team then?

Haley likes Brodie. Probably all there is to it. We may have kept palko however, simply for that fact that he's left handed. Our guys could get a decent look at playing against a lefty since we may play 3 games against one this year (a strong maybe, tebow 2x and leinhart).

Simply there is no one on the team currently better suited to be a backup quarterback. Which is a little odd to me as I would have expected the team to go after a recovering veteran in the off-season for a backup.

Me too. Guys like David Carr and Jeff Garcia aren't great, but they can at least stay in one piece.

The only reason I can think of why we didn't get a legit backup is that Pioli wants to insure Cassel won't feel threatened.

Not surprised about Smith. He had potential, but what good is he if he can only play in a couple games per season? Sad to see a career ended by injuries, but what can ya do.

His career isn't over. He's already been signed by the Broncos off the waiver wire.

oh, well now I can't wish him good luck.
