Went to training camp yesterday. For starters, Dexter is REALLY REALLY fast. He is going to be amazing. Dwane looks incredible, and caught everything, including very difficult passes. But Jon Osamoah, (spelling?) was the biggest highlight AND lineman out there. He is a beast. And he looked really really good. I think he might play a great deal this year. Waters was nursing an injury. And Haley says "F..." a lot.

Im going back every chance I get. If you live in the area, you really should check out training camp. You are literally on the field ten feet from practice, and there are concessions, food, beer, cheap Chiefs gear (I got a new fitted old school Chiefs hat for ten bucks) stuff for kids, and autographs after practice. I am getting Haley to sign my Chiefs golf visor next time, how cool is that?

That sounds awesome! I would love to make a couple of camp practice but not able to see since I live in South Houston. I've been hearing a lot of good things about McCluster and Bowe so it's good to hear it from more people, to know that's what's really going on.

It will interesting to see if the Chiefs actually use the wildcat this coming season. It looks like they have the personnel to do some form of it. :chiefs:

I hate any thought of the wild cat. I'm not saying that we don't have the right guys for it, I just think that it's no different than simply giving away a running play to the defense.

What a waste of time that could be used to get everyone more efficient at performing plays that could actually work.

I totally agree with you, but have no fear, we are NOT running the Wildcat.

During his press conference this afternoon Haley commented on us practicing the Wildcat. He said that practicing it is really for the benefit of the defense as many teams they are going to face are running some form of it from time to time. But he dismissed us follwing suit by saying it was his and Weis' philosophy that "you let the runners run, the catchers catch and the throwers throw".

I could see Weis and Haley quietly rolling their eyes at the Wildcat and dismiss it as a gimmick they are too good for.

It really sounds like the defense is getting better. The LB's and secondary are the ones I noticed that get the most attention. Having Romeo spend some extra time with the D-Line is definitely a plus. I just wish I was a couple states closer to go see camp.

I love hearing Dexter's name popping up. He is probably my favorite pick so far in this draft, I'm just hoping he's as good on the playing field as he is on the practice field.

I was there today, or it's yesterday since today is now Monday at almost 3 AM, haha. I'm still wired from being at training camp, can't sleep, haha.

I didn't see D-Bowe drop any today either, nor any WR's. Cassel is throwing GREAT!! GREAT!! GREAT!! Eric Berry is AWESOME! He is super quick & high jumping, batted down at least one ball preventing a score, & I think there was another, but my view was blocked, couldn't see the jersey number for sure.

I didn't have the same experience as you with getting player auto's though. There were tons of fans today, crowding the area we were told to be for auto's at the end of today's camp. The player's only sign for 10 minutes, and those in front appeared to be the fortunate ones. I'm too damn short & little compared to many in front of me. :(

I'm hoping to attend at least one more time before camp is over, on a weekday, which maybe it won't be as crowded with fans.

I totally agree. I'm not a fan of the wildcat either. Even though Haley down played it, don't be surprised if a couple of wildcat plays shows up during the season.

Dexter = This year's Percy Harvin?

I can see it. I went nuts when the Vikings picked Harvin. This year I did the same thing with McCluster.

My German Chiefs buddy is here with his wife & boys from Germany visiting, and they attended training camp Monday morning. He was here late this afternoon & evening visiting me, and said the same thing about Dexter as everyone else, that's he's totally awesome & quick! He was more impressed with Dexter than any other Chief during practice, and that's saying alot for him!

Edit...forgot to add...REP! for Stricken given on this thread! :)

That's all fine and dandy, but everyone knows Miami is running the ball, and no one can do a damn thing about it.

Threads like this get me excited about the possiblities this year. Asamoah, McCluster, Berry. And then there's my pick for having a great year, Moeaki.

I think his upside is huge.

Totally. If he can stay healthy, he will be the answer

Can anyone dream that in two years we are back in the AFC championship race and Tony G comes back to KC? Probably not, but when we win the Lamar Hunt trophy he should be there in my fantasy world.

According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday.

This all sounds awesome. But being the chief fan I am. I have to see them play against other NFL talent before I get excited. Every year there is steals in the draft. Then the season starts and nothing special.

Someone had trolled an old thread about last year's training camp and in that thread Cassell was looking horrible evidentally. Didn't even notice it was last years thread.

My question is for those who have been to training camp this year...how does Cassell look? I'm looking for objective and not rose colored glasses outlook. I'm always hoping he'll be a HOF QB but I'd rather have realistic than optimistic.

I went for one day, I saw a little of Cassel, but nothing out of the ordinary. McCluster is the real deal, though.

Totally. I have only been to St. Joe once so far as well, but I thought the same thing. When you watch him going full speed, you realize, "wow, this guy is going to be special." I think he is going to be our next Dante Hall, but better.
