I think maybe so. he's got to step up big time here today. the 49'ers come in 0-2. they're gonna tee off on him. standing around back there ain't gonna cut it.

I dont know if its a must win when your talking about cassels job.

Its just a must 'not suck' or a must perform~

Quick release, move the ball in the air, no one will expect it. He's gotta hit his targets. Everyone is planning on a big running game. He has to start being the QB we have always wanted! GO CHIEFS!!!!

ageed. he's got to stop the dancing around back there. the 49'er's are gonna blitz him and often.
these 3 and outs gotta stop. we'll wind up with a gassed D. ball control. move the chains !!!!!

I haved a bad feeling about the game today, playing desperate team (not that we arent) that has shown some great offense and D, and we have had no offense in 2 games.

Cassell will have to throw 2 td no picks and about 250yds. to win

Cassel needs then credit for the win today..that way, he can get everyone off his back for a few days.

The SF line is good, we will not be running much today. Their secondary is porous, as the Aints demonstrated on the last drive. This will be a passing win or a no win. The O line for us is much improved, but not good enough to pound it out against a good D line. This is Cassell's game to win or lose.

I think we will have to play a lot of no huddle and stop with the PAP and pitches, just drop back and throw, most of the time should be from the shot gun to give him a additional second to throw the ball.
We need 3rd down conversions for sure , our D is gonna need the break today for sure.

Is this a serious question? 2-0 teams aren't considering benching the starting QB regardless of how he has looked. Cmon Man!!!!

Pro_Angler

I'm not saying anything about benching him, I am talking about what we need for a win and be 3-0 for the first time in 7 years.

The question was "is this a must win". What else would happen?

Pro_Angler

They wont bench him, it's "thier pick" they wont do that. Our staff is pretty darn good, just maybe a tad bit too much of a ego maybe. one loss wont mean bench him IMO.

The question was is this a must win for Cassel, yes. At some point he MUST step up. I wonder how the players must feel with the way he's played so far, you know it must have some sort of an impact on them, True?

im glad to see em use the no huddle. need to use it more often. last week they caught the browns with to many on the field. forcing them to use a TO.

but this 3rd and short is a killer !!! especially late in the game. gotta convert !!!! force the D to use up TO's we win.

No it isn't a "must win" for Cassel.

I doubt it is even a "must improve" game.

I will be disapointed if he doesn't play better. But I am still willing to be patient and give it some time for him to get used to things in this offense.

Through the first two games, I'd say Cassel is about par for the course on his development.

In order to progress, you start at the bottom and work your way up. He is definitely starting at the bottom.:D

LOL AZ representing KC...lol..... too bad we are all spread out..I havent seen too many KC fans in Tucson thus far.
I agree Cassells play must be having a locker room affect. I don't like his press conferences, he is way too non challant about his play, knowing he wont be benched.

I don't think there's a chance Cassel gets benched unless he enters Jamarcus Russell levels of suckiness. Anyway, who do we bench him for? Croyle? After Croyle gets injured a couple games, we'll just be back with Cassel.

The time to get a legit 2nd option to Cassel was this offseason, and we clearly had no interest in doing that. He's our guy for 2010 (and probably 2011), for better or worse.

yeah he's is injury prone. but he has no fear of taking off instead of standing still and be a target.

Our O-line doesnt need a take off runner QB right now they are giving the QB almost 4 seconds, except for a few nice blitz packages that have been thrown at them.
We need a QB that can read the D and read the field faster.

Taking off isn't going to reduce his chance of injury.

Brodie Croyle has gotten hurt and missed significant time every single year he's been in the NFL. He got hurt this preseason and missed some games. I'm sure he's a great guy to have for training camp, in practice, and on the sideline. But he can't be counted on to do anything during a game but carry a clipboard and to pinch hit if Cassel gets knocked out of the game.

no beef from me here. we need a BU who can take it. what i like about him is he has a faster release than Cassel. he can throw bullets.

He does. It's a shame, really. He'd be the greatest Arena League QB of all time. But he just can't hold up in the NFL.

Croyle has gotten hurt a lot and even this year he has. But if Cassel does not show any signs of improving I don't think it's a bad idea to give him a chance. If he gets hurt a couple of weeks later then you have Cassel back who now knows for sure he has to preform and might be a little bit more fired up to do the job. I don't think it would be a bad idea but I really hope to see Cassel step it up starting today.

Am I the only one who thinks that ditching O'Callaghan for Richardson at RT is the major unheralded reason we're 2-0? O'Callaghan can stay doubtful for the rest of 2010 as far as I'm concerned.

You're not the only one. I would like to see Richardson stay in there for the rest of the season.

It would not help cassell at all if gets benched and only comes back cause Brodie gets hurt.
Brodie was one of my favorite guys in the league, but darn it he cant stay healthy. he hadnt won due to o-line and LJ being a little B&^%&, but o-line isnt the issue now
