I was listening to his press conference on www.kcchiefs.com

That guy is comfortable with a 3 point lead.

He also mentioned how penalties are killing us, like it isn't his fault the players aren't mentally prepared.

Get this guy some brains or get him out of town.

I WANT to like HERM because he is such a nice guy.

But I will not allow ANYONE to mess with my CHIEFS and that is what he is doing!

He has helped us on defense (not because he is a defensive genius) because Dick V didn't really care how many points the other team scored because he was able to get about 50 a game, but I'm not defending him either.

We need someone with balance, to help us win more games, and to let fans on both sides of the ball rejoice!

I am not a Hem fan either but a coach can only do so much to "mentally" prepare a team. Penalties are a problem and are costing us valuable feild position. The players do have to play the game! These guys have been playin this game for 20 years!! They know the rules and most of these penalties are bull**** penalties that they should not be committing!

You can't be serious?

It is COMPLETELY the coaches fault for these penalties.

Not just HERM but all the coaches.

Whatever they are telling these guys in team meetings is not sinking in.

Discipline is equally important as talent in the NFL!

What are you going to do, scold them if they committ a penalty? Come on man, 99% of coaches give the same damn speech before every game. 99% of these players have been listening to the same speech their whole lives. How much preperation do they need?

I have to agree with this. The coaches need to do a better job at discipline. Maybe they should start assessing fines, and maybe they do, if so increase the fines, seems that money talks with players.

I hate to agree with the worst QB in the NFL but I was just watching the post game press conference and Rex Grossman just said exactly what I did.

"All of the guys are talented, or they wouldn't be in the NFL. You have to have mental discipline in this league."

Does this make me wrong?

You guys!!!!! These are grown *** men, not 10 year olds. Do they have any responsibility to NOT committ these penalties or is it just the coaches fault for not "preparing" them well enough???

Yes they are and money talks loudly to grown men. Rewarding with money also may work. My point is you get yelled at by a coach, so what. You lose money, you start to hear the coach.

Never said you were wrong, just don't agree!! You can have any opinion you like, I don't have to agree!

They are talented. Like I said, do you think Dungy or Belichick gives a different speech than any other coach? On the contrary, they probably give less or no speech! The players they have are more self disciplined. Why should these professionals that are being payed millions have to be disciplined by someone else? Take some responsibility for yourself sometime for godsake!! You sure as hell are gonna take that paycheck on Monday!!

Hate to say it, but an "illegal shift" or "false start" or "12-men on the field" or "holding" or "pass interference" are all on the players. The only coaches penalty is delay of game.

That said: there are plenty of other reasons to hate Herm. Why try to argue about penalties? Let's go to play calling where we all agree... :D

And I think that is Herm, not Solari. Remember how excited Green was when Solari got the off. coord. position? Why? Because he was the QB coach. I don't think the QB coach goes from 35+ points a game to saying let's not throw the ball more than 5 yards.

That has to be on Herm and his "anti-arena-league" philosophy....

Or maybe we should start fining the coaches! Maybe that will stir up some better ways of getting the no penalty speach more evective.

To further augment your 2nd argument, some of these penalties also can fall under "play-calling". The holding downfield is clearly a player issue...however pass interference can be a coaching contribution, for example if you put your corner on an island with no inside help and you have a corner who is better in zone (i.e. Law) then you're putting him in a position to commit pass interference. Sure it's still his fault, but the coach has to set his players up for success.

The play calling, the mental errors, the embarrassing press conferences, the poor decision making starting players...

I could go on but I think it is GLARINGLY obvious this can be put on the coaching.

The players all have talent or guys like us would be walking around on the field.

It takes a coach who can get their players to listen to fundamentals of the game, and HERM is teaching the wrong fundamentals to these guys.

He just doesn't know what he's doing.

My point exactly...by putting him in a position to have to cover in man, rather than a cover2 zone or rolled safety help to his side, the coaches put him in a position to either commit pass interference or get burned. Good coaching is about teaching discipline, etc, but also putting your players in a position to use their strengths.

I'll agree with coaching is about positioning them to use their strengths but at some point these players have to be held responsible for their own actions.

Well that is original thought, but the players aren't the only millionaires on the team.

HERM isn't taking out payday loans himself.

The players are rebels with physical talent. The coaches are supposed to be the brains that flex the muscle (the players).

Most of us got cleaned out of Arrowcash in weekone...the bookie "accidentally" posted incorrect odds on LJ surpassing 70 yards, payout was like 12/1 or something. Anyhow it seemed like an easy win and many of us laid big Arrowcash down on that result, only to see LJ get limited to 10 carries in that first game.
