Foxboro - Bill Belichek doesnt come into a football game unprepared but on this chilly day in Foxboro, his Patriots showed their age and lack of precision in a loss the Chiefs.

Kansas City came right after the home team and showed themselves very comfortable in the elements. Tailback Mike Garrett was just what the doctor ordered as he ran for over 100 yards on the day opened up the passing game. The Chiefs took the lead with two touchdowns in the opening half with Otis Taylor catching the second after a playaction fake to Garrett.

The Chiefs defense on the other side completely shut down the New England running game and Tom Brady was on the run most of the game. Even when the Patriots did make a good drive work they were held out of the end zone and had to depend on the leg of Adam Vinatieri. The home side trailed 14-6 at the break.

In the third quarter the Patriots managed two three and outs and watched their deficit increase to 17-6. In the fourth a TD pass to Terry Glenn and a two point conversion gave the home team hope only down three. Brady however threw an interception to Johnny Robinson and the Chiefs defense played up to their reputation and held the rest of the game. Vinatieri sat on the sideline never getting his chance.

The Chiefs pull the upset but we will see farther versions of this Patriot dynasty in the future.
