If he had given me an OC in the 4th rd I'd be happy with this five rd mock.

My notes (not sure whether you care or not!):

I really really like Phil Taylor. I hope we get him with our 21st pick. I have a feeling that he's going to be a top 15 pick on draft day, though, similar to Tyson Alualu last year. I hope I'm wrong, but teams like to take a chance on big, strong lineman. But he's my number 1 prospect for our 21st pick....unless julio jones somehow manages to fall to us!

2nd round, would rather see us invest in a top center.
3rd round, I like picking a wr in this round.
4th round, I'm really high on Kendal Hunter from Ok st. or could see us taking a pass rusher like sheard.
5th round, I like the tackle selection. I think Richardson is going to be a good tackle, but we are in dire need of depth. I like picking a qb in this round too, but I think mcelroy from Bama would be a better selection.

I do think we need a NT, But i just read that this is a really strong Dline class, and maybe we could possibly grab Peae in the 2nd or Powe in the 3rd, and Go Ayers in the 1st? or Julio Jones if he falls to us (I would love that, I'm almost positive we grabbed another WR by the name of D-Bowe at pick 21)

It is a strong Dl class, but not for NT's. There is only three true NT's, big strong, 330 LB plus guys.
Taylor is probably the only one who can come in and start right away.
Powe's strength is in his upper body, spends to much time on the ground.
Kendreick Ellis will probaby come off the board before Powe, he seems to be the better player. He was dismissed from Sout Carolina for Marijuana use before transfering to Hampton.

Thomas Jones wasn't very effective for us in 2010?

Really?

Really?

Not as much in the 2nd half of the season. 500+ yds in the first 8 games, only 300 or so in the next 8 despite a decrease of only 3 or so carries a game.

Thomas Jones contributed to this team on and off the field. He had 896 yards running between the tackles, while splitting carries.

I can live with that.

I'm not stating that Thomas Jones wasn't valuable, but his running was definitely much less effective as the season wore on. Some of this might be attributed to him carrying 10 extra pounds or so, which is why Haley mentioned he wants jones to get down to 208 or 209 for next season.

In my opinion I think Thomas has done a lot for Jamaal Charles. I don't care if he only rushed 500 yards all year he is the set up guy not the go to guy. As good as Jamaal Charles made the offensive line look they still wernt all that good and if we didn't have Jamaal as our running back I don't think there could have been another running back that would of been able to get 800 yards rushing like Thomas Jones while sharing carries with another running back and only running to get the tough yards.

Fact of the matter, our offensive line got destroyed against Oakland and Baltimore. In those Games Jones was taking on a majority of the tough run situations to preserve J. Charles when Charles got the call in balanced situations.

I don't care who is running the ball, LJ or Thomas Jones, the offensive line needs to improve becuase J. Charles will not be able to make the line look better forever.

I just thought it was an erroneous statement in that draft article to say that Thomas Jones wasn't valuable to us.

Lots of people slowed down as the season went on- but 896 yards and a number of touchdowns could hardly be considered of no value.

Thomas Jones was valuable, but he was pretty ineffective in the end of the season w/ something like 2.8 ypc in the last 9 games. I think they keep him for the last year of his contract, but there is no doubt we shouldn't think of the future and start looking for a replacement to run between the tackles.

Agreed.

He is a valuable member of the team, he has already defied the odds and produced as a RB after the age of 29 so I'm happy with that.

He provided Valuable leadership for JC, and was a relable veteran presence when it cam to short yardage. If it's 4th and inches and you average 2.8 YPC it's enough to get a first haha.

Love him on this team, but it will probably only be for another season.

Walter can take his mock with Chiefs selecting Phil Taylor and shove it up his left nostril. There will be such better players available at #21 that Taylor will not be the selection at 21.

Well, he is the best NT available and that is a huge need. But let me throw another name into the pot at 21. Martez Wilson, the Chiefs want to get biggger at ILB next to DJ and Wilson would be bigger and a lot faster(4.4 at the combine). He is the best ILB in the draft.

I like the idea, and the guy seems like a good prospect at ILB. But I think they might be happy enough for now with Belcher's performance this last season not to warrant and immediate upgrade. I think they will address depth at this position later in the draft (Like Kelvin Sheppard, ILB LSU we could grab in rounds 4 or 5)

When I think of round one I think of a position of desperation that needs an immediate starter day 1. I Still think they will view OLB (to replace vrable and create a pass rush opposite Tamba), NT (still think the rnd 1 prospects all have red flags and they will grab a guy like Jerrell Powe in round 3), RT (If he is available I really like Solder of Colorado), or WR2 will be their round 1-3 targets.

I feel rounds 4-7 will be either a Center or Depth at Safety, O-line, ILB, Backup QB, WR, or RB (If they don't re-sign Battle)

With us not tendering Ryan O'Callahan I see us picking up a tackle with our first pick. Then we use Richardson as a backup. Then again it could all be a smoke screen and we're going OLB like and Ayers from UCLA. As long as we take an OLB to compliment Hali or a tackle for any side of the line to either start or add depth I am good with it.
