Haley now has his Fitzgerald and Boldin. Im hoping for an OL in the 2nd round now to help keep Cassel standing long enough to get the ball to these two guys.

Bowe, Baldwin at WR
Moeaki at TE
JC in the backfield
D. Mccluster in the slot

Our offense has weapons everywhere now. We just need to make sure we can block now!

It's a weird and kinda scary thing, too. Surely Pioli and Haley have GOT TO know that pass rush and O-line are two areas where we could use upgrades and depth.

But if tomorrow and beyond turn into TE, QB, RB, I'll join the red-rage crowd on that. We need a bookend for Hali, and some good blockers for all the shiny toys our offense has.

Unless the TE is a younger version of Jason Dunn, who is basically just an extra guard protecting your QB.

I have to say I don't like this pick. I'll gladly eat my own words here but there was one WR to go off the board after Julio Jones and when the Chiefs picked in the 2nd. Especially on a guy that can be a boom or a bust. I would have liked to have seen a OLB or OT taken in the 1st.

http://youtu.be/1EK3kx5Y9JE

I have to say I am very confused by this pick...

I can only think that they want to move dorsey. I have heard coaches go on record saying dorsey is strong enough to play NT. So that is the only thing I can think. They must be trying to produce pressure with the D line.

That is very true, but I feel like with gales and gilberry we have DE depth. I was thinkin that we would add depth to some weaker and mainly older positions. We have 2 young starting DEs that are eatin up some serious cap.

I'm going to retract my statement. After watching Allen Bailewy's tape, he and Gilberry both look better than Tyson Jackson. And not by a little bit. Allen Bailey looks like he could be the steal of this draft. This is quickly turning into a great draft for the Chiefs.

Gilberry rushes the passer well ( even if it means ignoring his responsibilities ), but only managed 23 tackles in his play time vs Jackson's 31 in 4 less games and his second year. Part of this is because he's not playing 2 gaps like he is expected to and instead likes to shoot gaps. That act gets him some sacks, but makes him a liability for the defensive scheme as a whole. In other words, as a 3-4 DE, Jackson is already better than Gilberry, but fans see the sack total and don't understand the scheme & responsibilities.

Bailey is only 285 and I wonder about his strength in a 5 tech - I think KC tries to stand him up at OLB ( he use to play LB fyi ).

Anyhow, this should be Jackson's year to show what kind of 3-4 DE he's going to be in the NFL. With KC's 3-4, you should see him making tackles ( not sacks so much ), so beyond watching the games, that stat shooting up would be a good indicator of success.

excellent analysis, good use of logic and stats.....however gilberry seems to have a higher motor and is more effective on passing downs. tyson is overpaid for his performance and is at this point a "bust". gilberry does need to improve his rush defense but tyson needs to improve both pass and rush. bailey may be for depth or to push tyson to get better or get out, either way is good for the team.

Someone needs to explain to me why we're picking undersized, unathletic OLBs in the 5th round when we've already got plenty of options on the team AND have already added the kid from UGA.

Im good with whoever is the BPA. In the 7th round you cannot expect them to be in the league for more than a couple years, so you should just get the best guy and hope he becomes a good back-up or special teams player. I dont think you can look to fill a need here.

here's the skinny on Bannon

Yale fullback Shane Bannon flew well under the radar as a lead blocker in the Ivy League.

However, the 6-foot-1, 270-pounder made an impression at his pro day with a 4.69 in the 40-yard dash.

"The kid is a stud," Joe Linta, Bannon's agent, told the National Football Post. "I had never heard of the kid before a coach at Yale told me about him. He's a good looking kid, catches every pass, light feet and he's blowing up people on the film. He's got some position flexibility, too. He can play fullback or be an in-line tight end."

Bannon registered a 9-3 broad jump, a 29-inch vertical leap, a 4.2 in the 20-yard shuttle, a 7.1 in the three-cone drill and a 12.1 in the 60-yard shuttle.

Last season, Bannon caught a career-high 13 passes for 122 yards and won the Jim Keppel Award as the Yale Offensive Back of the Year.

He played football, track and hockey in high school.

Baldwin was not a reach at #26. If he had played at Stanford last year where they had a good QB, instead of Pitt where they didn't have a good QB, he would have put up much better numbers & more than likely would not have got past the Rams at #14.

Baldwin has as much talent as any player that was available at #26 and was projected by many to go in the late 1st round. Baldwin also has as much talent as either AJ Green or Julio Jones and he's coming to a place where the head coach, Haley, will get the most out of him.

Taking Baldwin at #21 would have been a reach. Trading down to #27 and getting to pick him up at #26 makes him a great value pick.

He's nearly 6-5, 228 lbs, runs a 4.45 40, with flypaper hands & he's going to make a huge impact and force opposing defenses to defend the entire field instead of stacking 8 men in the box.
