Dexter McCluster (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/player/1137461/dexter-mccluster) has moved from wide receiver to running back. It's a position he played in college and the Chiefs view him as a third-down threat catching the ball out of the backfield. Chiefs RapidReports (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/team/KC)

I guess the Chiefs are comfortable with their additions at Wide Receiver. He can still do both, I guess.

This is a good thing. He physically won't make it through the season given the opponents we've drawn this year if he played like he did last year.

Dexter McCluster (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/player/1137461/dexter-mccluster) on changing positions from WR to RB: “I just want to be in a position to make plays, and if that’s at running back, fullback, in the slot, H-back, it doesn’t matter to me. No matter where they put me, I plan to contribute. I like RB; I can make plays there." Chiefs RapidReports (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/team/KC)

I think it will work out well. I hope though that he stays healthy the entire season.

IMO, that is the reason Breaston was picked up!

I think if they use a triple I formation they could really throw some defenses.

3rd downs will be fun with both Charles and McCluster in the backfield, and Bowe, Breaston, and Baldwin (or Moeaki) out wide. There's a lot of personnel packages the Chiefs can implement this year. Can't wait to watch.

Sounds lethal!

I'm sure too that McCluster will line up at both positions throughout the season, probably just listed at RB. I really think he could cause some havoc underneath now that we have legit threats at our top three WR positions and TE.

I think the problem with McCluster not being as productive last year was that we didn't have talent at the WR position besides Bowe and Moeaki. So when they would run routes in the flats the DB's had no worries about the WR's they were going against and were able to shoot upfield quickly. Now they have 4 reasons to honor the defensive backfield and make the LB's or Nickles match up with McCluster, and I think Run DMC will win those matchups 8 out of 10 times.

From ProFootballWeekly (http://www.profootballweekly.com/2011/08/05/mccluster-the-chiefs-odd-man-out):

McCluster the Chiefs' odd man out

By adding WR Steve Breaston and FB Le'Ron McClain, the Chiefs will have the ability to have a much more wide-open offense than they did a season ago. Breaston gives the team a legit slot receiver who can burn opponents deep with his terrific speed, and McClain is a bruiser who will aid the running game both as a blocker and runner. Each skill set will add to a Chiefs offense that was fairly one-dimensional in 2010.

The arrivals of the two veteran free agents is good news for the offense, but not so much for Dexter McCluster. The second-year pro was expected to be the team's third wideout while also seeing time in the backfield as a running back. Breaston's signing pushes McCluster down the WR depth chart, and McClain's arrival means fewer carries are available in the running game.

We hear Chiefs coaches are still high on McCluster, who has game-breaking ability with the ball in his hands. The problem is that at his size (5-8, 170 pounds), it is tough for the team to count on the 2010 second-round pick to be an every-down player. Expect to see McCluster get some touches both as a receiver, runner and return specialist, but not as many as the team had planned before the free-agent signings.

I agree with many of the posts thus far that this season he will have less upon him and hopefully can stay healthy and our game packages have many more options. Just thought I'd share the link.
