That's bad news.

I hope the Chiefs take a look at Desmond Clark who was just released by the Bears. He helped them win a Super Bowl in 2006. He kind of got squeezed out by Greg Olsen 2 years ago. Then the Bears Hired Mike Martz who doesn't really use tight ends in his offense except to block. He's a big (6'3" 245 lbs) receiver with good hands who can get yards after the catch. At 34, he only has one or two more good years left, but we wouldn't need him for more than a one year deal.

What? the last super bowl Chicago (the only one) won was in 1986. The Colts beat the Bears that year(2006). But I agree, he would not be a bad choice.

Oops! I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part. :). I meant to say "helped the Bears get to the Super Bowl."

Or maybe he should just bench all the best players the whole season so none of them can get hurt..........

I still support Haley's decision. This was a unique situation because of the Shortened preseason that will not be repeated again for at least 10 years (the length of the new CBA).

Had this been a normal year Moeaki could have just as easily been hurt in the 3rd preseason game when starters typically play into the 3rd quarter. Or he could be hurt on the first play of the 1st regular season game. The timing is actually good because other tight ends are just now getting cut and there is some talent out there to be had, to get us through until he heals.

I think it's safe to say the rumor is true being that it's now on NFL.com. That REALLY sucks but at the same time, doesn't surprise me. He had injury issues in college I believe as well.

this sucks. some of his catches last year reminded me of Tony Gonzalez. i hope he can come back in the middle of the season if its not a bad tear if that is even possible.

Hopefully O'Connel can step up big time, otherwise TE will just be a blocking position for us

Beg to differ- Leonard Pope doesn't suck at catching the football.

Tony Moeaki- catches like Gonzalez, uses crutches like Croyle.... Give the guy a good hard stare and you'll break something on him.

OMG! Tony is hurt! The Season is over! Well I guess we will see what the Pope has to say about this.

He's good for one catch a game, 78 career receps in I think 72 games

are you really trying to jinx him? lol he has way out played croyle so u cant put him in his category. did moeaki even miss a game last year? but yes i beleive i heard he had a history of injuries but it can be just bad luck at times. i think trent green before he came here was labeled injury prone to if i remember correctly.

Well, Moeaki has the whole season and off season to get well. Hopefully he can come back strong, and not end up like Sylvester Morris. We might want to draft a receiving tight end in next years draft, maybe round 3-4

Very tough break. Moeaki is one of favorite players on this team. Hopefully we can find a good one on waivers.

How often do players come back from this kind of injury like their old selves?

I was not happy with the decision to keep the starters in past the first quarter, and it's continuing to bite this team in the ***. First we learn Moeaki is done for the season, and now Cassel has a cracked rib (according to Nick Wright) and may miss the opener. What a boneheaded move.
