I hope we really make a loud statement today.

last season i remember a very bitter blow out defeat at mile high that id love to see some revenge taken for today. apparently all that junk time points they got in the second half happened to light a fire under Cassel's rear end to become a much better passer and played comparatively brilliant in the second half of the season. Im not so confident the same stroke of brilliance was achieved after last weeks loss, im just hoping that we dont get trampled by the run game like we did last year. itll be one of the more highlighted games of the season so far being that we're up against tebow the media saint.

lets pound em and give the head lines something fun to write about.

matthewschiefs

matthewschiefs
11-13-2011, 02:10 PM

Dropped passes, blocking penalties, run plays on 2nd & 20+ and terrible pass protection.

Same old story, so far, today.

No need for The Broncos to ever throw the ball.

SIC J
11-13-2011, 02:31 PM
Seriously! The Chiefs are playing against the pass. Why the hell would you fear Tebow passing the ball? LOL. Stack the damn line and stop the run. FORCE Tebow to throw the ball!

McCluster doesn't have to go, but he definitely shouldn't be getting running plays called for him consistently.

matthewschiefs
11-13-2011, 02:47 PM
Letting lance ball get runs against us now.

iratefan
11-13-2011, 02:48 PM
i cant even imagine how many touch downs denver would have right now if moreno or mcgahee were int he game at this point if backup back up backup RB's are owning us.

iratefan
11-13-2011, 02:48 PM
mccluster is a good player and a good asset - we just dont know how to fking use him properly. if he were on a team that could actually block, hed be a superstar in the league im thinking.

We just let lance ball drive them to a field goal we dont deserve to win

iratefan
11-13-2011, 02:56 PM
if we cant answer here, this game's over. unless the broncos somehow fold in the second half... but either way at this rate we dont deserve to even be playing in this stadium.

11-13-2011, 03:32 PM
The pass protection, these past two weeks, is as bad as it has ever been.

I praised the improvements, and they had to show me how wrong I was.

Brandon Albert is just terrible as a LOT.

This is his fourth season, and he is every bit as out of position as he was from day 1.

Oh look we played the run on that 3rd down and got a stop. WOW shocking.

iratefan
11-13-2011, 03:40 PM
im glad we had a stop (finally) but im getting so angry at how pathetic our punt blocking has become. we're wasting arenas' runback abilities by never giving him any space to even pick up speed.

The pass was thrown behind him. Should have been caught, yes. But when wide receivers continually are having to make adjustments to ****ty throws, it's a big reason so many passes are dropped.

When every throw is consistently off the mark, what's a WR to do?

I'm not excusing the wide receivers, they should catch the ball regardless, but a more accurate QB would definitely make their lives easier.

When he is CLEARLY the thing holding the offense back. He's not the only thing wrong. He's gotten some first downs with his legs the past few weeks. He's done some good. He's done some bad. But our WRs should not be bailed out because the throws are not perfect. They get paid to Catch the ball. When they drop the ball Cassel can't do anything about it. And even with the Pats great OLine he still was the most sacked QB of the year.

A good Oline won't fix what whats wrong with this guy. These Receivers were wide open all day, sure they dropped passes but most that they dropped were very poorly thrown.

Its funny how the same people who criticize Tebow worship Cassel.............lets compare numbers and the strength of the Olines.

I respect your stance on the issue, I just dont agree with it. I dont see anything that Cassel does could not be done by say...Jamarcus Russel or even Donavan McNabb. Seriously, Cassel rerly ever makes a big play when we need it. If the performance continues like this, I will be seriously PO'ed if they dont cut Cassel flat out after this season. If they can even get a 7th rounder for him, they should and I will be happy with it. NOBODY will take the rediculous contract he has though...not even the Raiders :)
Not saying it is always the case and yes, there are sometimes some good QBs that slip through the cracks...but the guy wasnt even a starter in college. That at the very least is more evidence against the guy.

And I understand the being upset with him. I am not thrilled with him right now. I will alway defend the qb a bit when things go wrong like they did today. I just fell it's a tad unfair to say Cassel was horrible and not the offense was.

Well, there really isn't any excuse not to make the catch but i thought it was interesting when I was watching GB play in last week or two and they were pounding thier competition, as usual, and one of the ex nfl commentators was saying that alot of the success of catching everything rodgers threw was due to the reciever's trust in Rodger's ball placement because he never puts his recievers in harms way, to have thier heads taken off by a secondary, so they catch thier ball with confidence. I personally would be scared sh**less to catch one of his unpredictable decisions. Maybe they lack the confidence due to his inaccuracy and they have a high probability of leaving the field on a backboard? Just a thought....

That's possible. But I will say again the NFL WRs get paid to catch the ball. They have not been great either. For whatever the reason.

I can't say that if a change would be made it would get better I can't say that it wouldn't get better. What I can say is they are not doing there job either. And they need to be held accountable just like Cassel.

No, he is a large part of the problem but so is a defense that has 54 running plays shoved in thier face. They know they are running it and couldn't stop it. I'm ready to see some experimenting. I don't care is Cassel's feelings get hurt riding the bench. He got major paid so he will be just fine...so let's mix it up. No one's job is a given so start moving some personnel around.

I will agree that Cassel isn't the sole thing holding back this offense but he is a MAJOR part of it. I just got back from actually being at the game and watching it. Tailgating was awesome, the game, not so much. Cassel was inaccurate and that's the best I have to say about him. When the biggest play past the TD was Baldwin catching an under thrown pass with his hands behind a defenders back....damn.

All game long I watched as every time Cassel threw the ball it was behind the receiver, over thrown, under thrown, thrown a million miles an hour when he could have put some air under it and let the receiver run into it. I swear I just about left when he threw the ball almost as hard as he could to a guy running across the middle and instead of lofting it up and letting his receiver run under it he guns it a yard in front of him.

A receiver does need to catch a ball thrown at him but he shouldn't have to contort his body or catch a bullet when it's not needed. I'm so frustrated with Cassel right now these are the best things I can say about him after watching that game.

As for the defense...seriously...I believe they had 0 yards passing going into the second half. Stack the freakin box and make them beat you with the pass. For cryin out loud a college scheme should not be able to beat a pro defense. Ridiculous!

Actually the first half we controlled the ball for the most part. I remember looking up with about 4 minutes left in the half because the guy sitting next to me (who I didn't know said you've got to be f'in kidding me). Lo and behold we'd had the ball the majority of the half. The second half belonged to the broncos.

I said it when Em put out his prediction of the week that if we controlled the run by stacking the box and made Tebow beat us with his arm we'd win. Instead 0 passing yards in the first half...freakin ZERO!!

My biggest question out of all that was how in the H*LL do you let the crowd get loud like they did (holy h*ll was it loud after the false start penalty!) and then let them throw it up over top for a TD? That was flat out embarrasing so yeah, some of it can be blamed on the D.

Really

And blameing Matt Cassel is perfectly sound logic.

I am not pinning this on the defense. I just refuse to say it's matt Cassels fault they lost. This is my exact thoughts on the loss.

Offense
Matt Cassel Can throw the ball better and he has to. No disagreement there. He was running for his life all day long but the qb has to make plays he didn't

The WRs Have to do a better job catching the ball. The throws might not be great but it's no excuse. They get paid to make tough catches.

O line Broken record has to play better. We have all been saying this all year.

Defense. Should not and can't let a 3rd string Rb and Tim tebow beat them. Like they did. Lance bell 3RD sting almost had 100 yards (96) NOT ACCEPTABLE. Tim Tebow had 43 rushing yards for a qb NOT ACCEPTABLE. They get blame for that as they should.

COACHING MY MAIN TARGET.
There is not reason for us not to stack up everything to stop the running game. When they can't complete a pass. Yet we didn't That goes on the coaching staff. When denver was making 0 effort in the throwing game the fact that we didn't load the box against the run is just STUPID. Coaching is the biggest reason we lost today. It's there job to put the game plan and put players in postion to win. They didn't on offense or defense.

And just because someone has a different opinion then yours doesn't mean they have there head up there a** just a thought.

I don't know if being at the game made me see clearly or if the game on tv hides it better because they don't show the guys after the play. The receivers were having to make adjustments like crazy to catch the ball. Not to mention that Cassel threw some bullets at guys that needed to be lofted and lofted passes when they needed to be bullets. Saying that there was little else Cassel could do in this game is a gross understatement.

It was funny but not in a good way when Cassel see's a WR streaking down the sideline with a CB in tow and chucks the ball down field. I was watching from the end zone area and saw the Safety start drifting towards the receiver and the CB look back. My first thought was oh sh*t here we go again. Piss poor pass. Let's just say it was so bad that even the defenders over ran the ball. After the play they looked at each other and seemed to visibly shrug like...well hey if the QB can't throw the pass accurate and let us pick it off at least we don't even have to do our jobs. That's just a singular instance. Not only was the pass under thrown, it was thrown into double coverage that was ALL over the WR.

But that's probably the WR or O-Line's fault too. Before you answer the question, no, Cassel wasn't being hurried, chased or had anyone close to him. He was just standing in the pocket.

I didn't say Cassel was perfect or didn't make mistakes. If it was a singular instance I'd be more forgiving but it's happened more than just once.

True; so has the dropped passes; multiple times.

I saw very little else Cassel could do in this game. He ran for his life, picked himself up off the turf all day long. WR's, again, missed key passes that hit them in the hands late in the game with the game on the line.

THIS

It wasn't that Cassel was bad it wasn't that the WRs were bad it wasn't that the oline was bad. It was the OFFENSE was bad. Each and everyone one of those areas are part of that.
