You really think he would want to go back to coaching?

He's already been inducted into our HOF, I'm thinking his days as a coach are over...

Didn't he won the UFL championship last season? I don't think he has done coaching.

He did. And he is actually the current HC of Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League.

To take a job for an unknown league, I'd say he is still very interested in coaching.

Glad you brought that up, pojote. I had no clue.

Of course he's interested, he just doesn't want the stress that the NFL brings. He's probably content in the UFL.

Um, he said he would like to coach again in the nfl. His ufl team just won the title this year. I don't know what your talking about.

he said he doesnt want in the nfl now but could always change. He was intrested in being the chiefs gm at one time.

Marty Schottenheimer says he doesn't expect to return to the NFL (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2009/11/marty-schottenheimer-says-he-doesnt-expect-to-return-to-the-nfl/1)

Schottenheimer, who last coached for the Chargers in 2006, said he entertained the possibility of becoming the Chiefs' general manager a few years ago, but doesn't think he'll return to the NFL now.

I would like to see him take over as DC, but not as HC. As a fan who watched too many playoff games lost because he went into prevent defense AND prevent offense with a 3 point lead in the second quarter, I would revolt. Do we want a coach who consistently gets 10-12 games a regular season? Then he might be the guy. Do we want a coach who has ZERO % chance of winning a playoff game? Then he might be the guy.

he probably still has Lynn Elliot nightmares

I believe he could get over that hump if he was given a chance to coach again. And just think how awesome it would be to be good year in and year out again.

He got over that hump, guys.. He is a stud coach in the UFL. He even said, it was the most satisfying victory he could imagine.

Just got to say, becareful what you all ask for. His son Brian could be a HC soon.

That is not exactly the most up-to-the-minute story.

It is from two years ago.

Not that I think any of it matters. I expect Todd Haley to be The Chiefs' HC in 2012, and beyond.

He got over the hump in a semi-pro league-hardly the NFL. Also, he did the same choke-in-the-playoffs routine in San Diego, which is why he was fired.

I would love to see Vermeil crying at press conferences again. Miss that man and the team he built here.

I loved watching our O-line own the defense up front and seeing Priest Holmes chew up yardage on the ground.

Man, Priest was one of the smartest players I have ever seen play the position of tailback in a long time. So patient, such good vision. Not the fastest or strongest. Just smart.
Not to mention he was better than all the receivers on our team today in terms of catching balls haha.
Trent Green, Tony G, Kennison with a hint of Morton. Dante Hall being one of the best return specialists ever. Best O-line in football hands down.
But much to miss on defense haha. Liked some of the players but man they were bad.

Without a doubt! It's never a good thing when your offense is, consistently, your defense. We had to score 45 points a game because the defense was going to give up at least 42.

Holmes knew exactly how to utilize his blocks; he had an uncanny knack for finding the cracks in the defense and exploiting them. It also helped to have an o-line capable of exposing those cracks.
