I'm kinda glad in a way, it keeps us from completely changing everything by not bringing in an outsider, but in the same sense, as head coach he has not done anything to really pump me up. But a plus because I'm sure he will stay involved in the defense in which he has done a very good job after a slow and unprepared job in the beginning of this year.

Congrats to him and his family.

Love the move!

There's always a lot of buzz and it's a sexy thing to bring in the "big name coach" or an outsider, but I think bringing in an outsider signifies a "change in mind-set" for the team. You basically start over again, he asseses the players, gets rid of ones that don't fit his system, implements his new system and brings in his new players.

We've got a good core group of guys on this team that will benefit from keeping Crennel around. Now they can go into next year basically wihtout missing a beat. There's no "starting over" per say.

Plus this team seems to respect Crennel, and plays hard for him. I'm excited to see who he grabs as an OC! I think that will be the big factor of our success next year.

Anyone thought of the idea of bringing in Eric Manginni as DC?? Runs the similar system to Crennel, so Crennel could basically still have his hands in the defense, but allow Manginni to take care of the day-to-day things that could distract Crennel and it would allow him to focus on being the Head Coach.

I think its safe to say that whoever gets the OC and DC jobs has a good chance of being our HC in 3-4 years. I vote Jim Zorn and Eric Mangini.

Name 3 talented players on his roster while he was there??

He had jack to work with. This team is primed and ready to be competitive, the situation presents itself to not miss a beat with this hiring.

I think he will rally our team and we will be competitive next year. He's not a micro manager like Haley, and from what I've known in general, Leaders that trust and allow the people under them to do what is expected of them tend to succeed more than the Leader that has to have his hands in every aspect of the operation...(Haley)

DBolan didn't mention that they had 4 starting QB's go down that year. Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Ken Dorsey, and Gradkowski (who was actually added mid-season)

And you have got to be kidding me, the most talented person on the roster was the Kick Returner??

Lewis was over the hill, but he actually had his first 1300 yard season since 2003 (Crennel Brought him to Cleveland)

The team actually finished 10-6 in 2007, but similar to the Chiefs season this year, had lots of injuries that led to the 4-12 season.

I always thought Crennel was done dirty in Cleveland. Talk about injuries. But they still managed to be in most games they were severely overmatched in. He is 64, so it's more than likely this 3 years will be his swan song in the NFL. I hope for him (and us but mostly him) he can have the huge success such a class act deserves. I love it! Let's bring on the 2012 season.

I for one am happy that crennel is the hc. I know he had a disapointing stint in cleveland but i do think ges an intelligent guy and should be able to avoid mistakes he might have made with the browns. Also i think since hes been here with us already, hes aware of the qb situation and can make a more informed decision on how to deal with it than a new coach just walking through the doors. Since cleveland was considered a failure in his coaching history, the fact that he was so eager to coach again shows he learned a few things since then and is confident that he can do better this time wich hopefully works in our favor. The difference between him and haley is day and night, and ill admit i liked haley until these last couple of months. Haley rebuilt bowe into a better reciever and threw larry johnson outta here so he still contributed alot to this team.

You guys need to give him a chance instead of saying it won't work for this or that reason. How do you know it won't work, it might or might not only time will tell. But at least give it a chance before you call it a failure. Did you want to bring someone else and wait another year or two for the coaches learn the players and the players a year or two to learn the new coaches schemes? Besides who was realistic going to come here other than a coordinator (like Haley) from another team.

There is not a prefect fit that was guaranteed to come in and win a SB, look at the Dick V that we brought in that had won the SB with two different teams, he did not do it here.

I think we have some what of a better chance with Crennel. He's been here, he know's the players, he know's Pioli as well as anyone does having worked with him for so long and the players seem to have alot of respect for him. That to me is a very good start. Now they have to go to work on the coaching aspect, OC and DC. We have to have faith, to say someone else would do better in this Situation is kinda unrealistic I think. He needs the chance to prove himself. He's got that chance, it's time to move on to the next faze.....

But how many times does it happen? Sure there are examples for both sides besides how do you know RAC is going to fail? No one does he might fall on his face I don't know but he is our coach now for good or bad and no matter what I will pull for him and not put him down before he even gets his staff together. Did you want to bring in a DC or OC and see what he could do and maybe end up with another Haley? It is some people in here want the Chiefs to be a Play Station team. I think no matter who was hired some people who complain.

We say it won't work for the same reason ALL of us say a certain player or DC/OC won't work when signed, drafted or picked-up in FA.

Opinions...All of us have them and some don't want to be heard. lmao

You are entitled to your opinions but you sound like you know he is going to fail. No one knows if he will fail or succeed for sure. Besides he is our HC now just like they say in a wedding "for better or worse", so why keep pounding it in the ground is all I am saying. To bring all this stuff up before he was hired is okay but now what difference does it make.

He might have learned a lot of things from his HC failure in Cleveland and again maybe not, we will find out in the future. Like the old saying goes "burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me."

Ya know...

I got to thinking, it really doesn't matter if dbolan doesn't like the move, because his opinion doesn't matter, you're right Crennel is the HC, no matter who thinks it's a good/bad move.

Fact of the matter is, you can set here and B*tch all you want, it's not going to change the fact the he is now the Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.

People always use all these stats to support what makes a super bowl team, but the reality is, the team has to play together as a team, the situation has to be right, and the team has to get hot at the right time. Crennel said it himself in his press conference, the first year the Pats won the super bowl when he was there, at the beginning of the season the entire staff thought they had no chance to even be competitive, they won the SB, the next year, they thought they had a good shot, and they missed the playoffs. then went on the following year to win back to back.

We can analyze it all we want, Crennel is the HC, we will see if it was a good move next season, I'm just hoping dbolan is pulling his foot out of his mouth next January when the playoffs roll around (not saying you're right or wrong at the current moment, just saying let's re-visit this topic next January)

I have said on numerous ocassions...I hope that is the case!!

I WANT the Chiefs to succeed! I was in the stands in the early 90's, in the cold and the rain when there were so many empty seats that you had your complete choice of placement!

I will be the first to stand up here or anywhere and say that I mis-evaluated!!

Cheers!

As I have said before for Crennel to succeed we will need a solid OC and DC. He's our coach and I support him, It's up to him and Pioli to build from there.
