Also per Winston's tweet "Hello Kansas City! Anyone know where some good neighborhoods to live in?"

SOOOOO stoked. It's looking to be a good free agency!

Holy crap!! I've about worn out the refresh button on my phone trying to keep up with this over the last couple of days. Finally good to see the Chiefs making serious moves to solidify the trenches.

I am no huge Cassell fan, because of the huge contract he signed, but the guy (along with our rushing attack) will be very good. Without Charles our rushing attack was a joke. No one feared Battle. Charles has the speed you must respect. Along with Hillis we will make the playoffs. Write it down now lol

Glad to hear the news...

Think this is the best FA class of Pioli's tenure as far as talent goes, we have brought in some real talent, that can help us get to that next level.

I think our hunches of Pioli planning to make some moves in Free Agency is proving to be true, I think he feels the same as a lot of us, and see's the Chiefs as a team that has enought core talent built up, that a few Free Agent moves can elevate us to a playoff contender

There is still plenty out there, so I am excited to see what comes next

Supposedly it is 4 years 22 million. That's a VERY good price if it is true.

Walterfootball.com analysis -

Thanks to @richieguy309 for alerting me of this contract. The Chiefs just solidified their biggest need (right tackle) with the top player at his position on the market - all at a pretty reasonable price. Not too shabby. I'm slightly concerned about why the Texans cut Eric Winston in the first place, but this appears to be a really good move.

Houston: $8,799,012 in cap space

not much room to play with and he did want to take a cut

Nice, very nice.now we got get Decastro or konz and watch out.Albert Decastro Hudson Asamoah Winston or Albert Hudson Konz Asamoah and winston.Just hope either cassel can get the job done or Qiunn or Stanzi, step in.This should be Cassels last chance.I'm behind him for now,but he should be on a very short leash.Go Chiefs.I feel good about next yr.Even with cassel,at the helm.Raiders and Denver are gonna suck.Denver isnt gonna get Manning.San Diego may be alittle challenge.I see us sweeping the division.Hope Berry,Charles and Moeki make full recovery's.Is so watch out this year.We still have the draft.I went from sad to stoke,in last 48 hrs.

What a great signing. This team can now focus on taking the best player available come draft time.

$5.5 million per year? Cheapskates! We didn't waste nearly enough money on him. How are we going to win a Super Bowl if we refuse to pay too much for good players? :D

The Texans cut him and then the Chiefs get him at such a bargain... no worries? Somethin seems a little weird.

Either way, great signing by this team glad to see them finally address a need.

Yeah. If the chiefs sign a player that was cut form another team, there must be something wrong with him.

I might be making this up or dreamed it. He refused to restructure his conttact? Hes a .casualty of the cap the texans also let go of a premier pass rusher folks and got nothing in return so prertty sure the conspiracies can stop with texans need money. Look at the astros financial trbl. Maybe more of a city struggling than winston having a third leg that will affect his stance......or whatever.

“The Chiefs showed me how much they really wanted me,” Winston said. “I had offers, but at the end of the day, it came down to what they can be and me wanting to be a part of it.” link (http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/03/former-texans-eric-winston-signs-with-chiefs/)

Aren't you guys a power running team? He was very good in the zone blocking scheme that the Texans run, but I'm not sure about him having to maul guys one on one.

Whatever he can or can't do, he's gotta be better than Richardson.

We have been a zone blocking system in the past. We have a new OC and OL coach now, though. I havent heard anything about whether they have said that they are changing the system or not.
