Matt Cassel formally ruled out; Brady Quinn to start for Chiefs - Arrowhead Pride (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2012/10/11/3488952/matt-cassel-injury-out-brady-quinn-start-chiefs)

It's official: Matt Cassel is out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Romeo Crennel made the announcement at his Thursday press conference. Brady Quinn will get his first start in nearly three years in Week 6.

This was basically a formality at this point. Cassel didn't practice on Wednesday due to the concussion suffered on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens and the Chiefs said they were going to be cautious with Cassel, which was an indication he wouldn't play. And he won't.

This means that the Brady Quinn era is officially here. The Chiefs play the Bucs on Sunday then have a bye the week after that so for at least one week this will be Quinn's team.

This is a huge opportunity for him. We're not sure how the Chiefs are feeling about Cassel's situation in the long term but it seems reasonable that Quinn could hang onto the starting job beyond Week 6 if he plays well.

You ready for the Quinn era?

Lets see what Brady can do.

5,000 yards and 30 TD's...against Tampa Bay...I'm calling it right now.

In all seriousness I'll be curious to see what he can do. I do think Quinn will show some promise and then when Cassel comes back there will be some controversy if Cassel continues to do poorly.

The other interesting thing will be to see if when Cassel does start playing again if the team will do better because of an us vs everyone else mentality or what the chemistry will be.

This team may be short on wins but we have plenty of drama to make up for it. At this point I don't care who plays as long as they're consistent and take care of the ball.

I do hope he turns the corner for us

Isn't he going to be the first First Round draft pick to take a snap for us since Blackledge left in 1987? No matter what happens that's both sad and historic.

I see Crennel playing it safe and not giving him a chance to air the ball out to see what he's got. Run, run, run with Charles as the Bucs stack the line. Kinda like last year against the Chargers. Tired of the conservative play BS. REALLY hope I'm wrong!!!

Correct

But has there been a first round QB on the field for us since we had Todd? I don't believe there has, Montana was a second or third I think.

Hopefully they make adjustments once the defense pushes everyone to stop the run. Unlike last week.

All I got out of this article is worries. Not about the QB, but about the coaching staff destroying Charles by running him to much.

This is my number one concern for this season regardless what happens at QB.

Falcons fan here. I'm thrilled your team decided to unleash THE DRAGON on the Sucs. I hope he slaughters them and proves that HE IS a QB in this league.

The fanbase here is hoping he does well and that there is a true reason to prove a case for change. Outside of the first half against you guys, its been hard to argue against trying something that doesnt involve shortening Charles career.

I wish Quinn a GREAT game and JC a 100+ yard game with fewer carries.

Keywords, Fewer Carries! Last week he was ripping it up and had about 7.5 yrds per carry but was handed it so much it was inevitable the D would finally stop him a couple times. He can still easily be the rushing leader even with less carries IMO.
