Officially there is no confrimation nor denial.

What the rumor was is that the NFL was working out some sort of language for new contracts regarding GMs. Pioli may have been used as a ginny pig for one of the new look contracts given his current one is almost due to run out. Sounds like someone leaked the information and ran with it.

There are many ways this has been spun but I have heard the above more than once.
