The brothers made their choice knowing that it might impact their ability to return to the NFL, but one of them has lined up a shot at a job for the coming season. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that Husain Abdullah (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5026/husain-abdullah) will work out (https://twitter.com/RavensInsider/status/298441679642431489) for the Chiefs later this week as the first step toward a comeback to the football field.
Husain Abdullah played 54 games for the Vikings over four years after making the team as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He started the final 24 of those games, including all nine that he played in 2011 before a concussion ended his season. The Vikings offered Abdullah a contract extension last offseason that he turned down in order to make his pilgrimage.
His brother Hamza played 16 games with the Cardinals in 2011, the seventh year of a career that has also featured stops in Denver and Cleveland after he was a seventh-round pick of the Bucs in 2005.

Nah he was a full time starter when he took a year off. And mad props for turning down a contract extension to go on a pilgrimage. You don't get contract extensions being a special teams player. Seems as if he's improved every season since being drafted. If he try's out well hell compete for the job.

It will be interesting to see what kind of shape he is in. A year off without an NFL Strength and Conditioning program can really kill your abilities. I guess the coaches will determine if they like what they see.

key word. he was a starter if he get's signed he will come back to contribute on special teams to begin with. a full year out of football will take some time to get back to football form. good depth signing if it does happen

Glad to have him. There's nothing wrong with some competition.

We have hardly any quality depth in the secondary. It is a low risk high reward type of signing unless he is expected to be our starter.
