I remember working at the airport, and when there was a tornado warning we all had to go down into the parking garages.

the weird thing was the a lot people in the bar insisted on bringing their beers other than their luggage.

anyways i hope everyone is doing ok during the storms and are in a safe place.

These weren't as bad as some in recent history. I think they leveled a few houses, but I don't believe there were any casualties. Didn't even hear of anyone getting severely hurt.

If not always go to a small interior room, and even in a basement, always put as many walls between you and the storm, smaller room more strength in the structure of room.

Hmmmm here, 1400 square foot room, underground, almost all open. Pillars down the middle, and a small room with non weight bearing walls but has the furnace and water heater.

The good, the only windows are small casement windows which are at or near ground level, at the 7 ft ceiling in the room.

No, but it has a room we call the vault. It's made out of cement, and it houses some of our servers. We go in there and duck and cover if something goes wrong

My apartment is a partial basement apartment. In case one hit here, I would either get in my tub or drag my mattress out into the hallway and close my bedroom door.

I live by myself, and I have a mother who worries too much. Trust me, I have a plan for everything.

We had a few tornado warnings here in OKC yesterday also. I have gotten so used to those warnings now. Unfortunely I don't have a basement but am about to have a tornado shelter built at my house. Can never be to safe when your family is involved.

There was some hazard mitigation grant money from fema available at one time. This was to build tornado shelters in homes. This was a result of the Moore OK tornado. I don't know if that is still a program that can be applied for or not. It was a unusually grant program, fema normally does not fund storm shelter in private property, only public.

Bunch of tornadoes here tonight. One knocked over a semi, one caused a wreck somehow in the middle of town, took out power to half of town. We are all clear here so far

Moore is only 10 miles from where I live. The May 3rd, 1999 tornado that you are speaking of threw a Ford into my dining room. It passed within 2 blocks of my house and wiped out half of the neighborhood I live in.
