Tyler Thigpen is back in town this week. The Former Chanticleer, and current Kansas City Chief, will be honored at Saturday night's game, and he will be honored on the walls of the new fieldhouse.
Thigpen submitted a donation to the new building and his name will don the Quarterback Room in the fieldhouse, set to be completed for next season.
Thigpen's Chiefs have a bye this week, and the first ever player from the Big South to be drafted has had a very busy year. He was drafted in the 7th round by the Vikings, but cut right at the end of camp. He was immediately picked up by Kansas City. Now he takes snaps for the scout team, and holds a clipboard during games to track plays. He's currently the third-stringer behind Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle.
Thigpen is also here to give some advice to the 2-5 Chants. He said that the 14 seniors must play the rest of the games like they're their last. Coach David Bennett also mentioned his team has not had the same level of leadership on the team since Thigpen left.
Coastal has homecoming this weekend at Brooks Stadium. The Chants begin Big South play with a 7pm start against VMI.
