PEKIN, Ill. (AP) - A 1-time NFL All-Pro lineman and former Fox Sports broadcaster will get a new judge in his drug possession and weapons case.
Bill Maas appeared Thursday in Tazewell (TAZ'-well) County Circuit Court, where his request to substitute the judge was granted.
Maas is charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance after Illinois State Police allegedly found cocaine and Ecstasy in his Hummer during a July roadside safety check in East Peoria.
The 45-year-old is also charged with a misdemeanor count of unlawful use of a weapon after police allegedly found a loaded handgun in the vehicle.
Maas played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers.

A former NFL player and sports commentator wants a new judge for his felony drug and weapons case in Tazewell County.

Lawyers for Bill Maas and Maas's girlfriend Sarah Murphy filed motions Thursday asking for the replacement of Judge Stephen Kouri.

In court papers, Maas alleges Kouri is prejudicial against him and won't conduct a fair trial.

The charges against Maas stem from a traffic stop in East Peoria earlier this summer. Police say they found cocaine and Ecstacy in Maas' vehicle. They also recovered a loaded revolver.

Maas and Murphy live in Kansas City and were in central Illinois for a wedding in July when they were arrested.
