Apparently bowe had been injured most of the offseason, and hasn't caught a pass in the preseason. There are rumors that if it weren't for his $9 mil guarantee he would be on the street by now.

I find it really ironic. I hope he does well, only because I have no ill will toward him. But I can't feel bad for the guy, he would take a restructured contract here, when it was obvious that he was a slightly more talented, but more inconsistent version of Avant, who comes much cheaper.

If true who do we blame Alex or Cassel? :)

I doubt that he's cut but in the event he does. I hope that Dorsey would reach out to see if he would be willing to come back at a lower rate. He would still be of help to the WR core.

Is Dwayne Bowe on the Browns’ roster bubble?Posted by Zac Jackson on September 3, 2015, 5:31 PM EDT

Getty ImagesThe Browns signed Dwayne Bowe (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4184/dwayne-bowe) to a two-year deal last March that included $9 million guaranteed. That should, ahem, guarantee Bowe a roster spot despite the soon to be 31-year old wide receiver missing nearly three weeks of training camp with a sore hamstring and not catching a preseason pass from starting quarterback Josh McCown (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/2090/josh-mccown).
But the Browns have a crowded receiving corps despite not having a true No. 1 receiver, and entering Thursday night’s preseason finale there’s still some uncertainty as to which receivers will make the final roster.
Solomon Wilcots, who works for NFL Network but is paid by the Browns to call preseason games on Cleveland television, appeared on the team’s official pregame radio show Thursday afternoon and hinted that Bowe is not a lock to make the roster.
“He needs to deliver (tonight),” Wilcots said. “After talking to the coaches he needs to show up tonight to be a part of the 53-man roster (this weekend).”
Wilcots didn’t say which coaches to whom he’d spoken, but his words at very least make for an interesting discussion. The Browns also have a decision coming onTerrelle Pryor (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6757/terrelle-pryor), who’s trying to transition from quarterback to wide receiver but has yet to play in a preseason game.
Pryor is supposed to play in the preseason finale, but Browns coach Mike Pettine said this week that Pryor doesn’t necessarily have to play (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/08/31/pettine-thursdays-game-isnt-make-or-break-for-terrelle-pryor/) to make the 53-man roster.
Brian Hartline (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5191/brian-hartline), another veteran receiver acquired in the offseason, is going to make the team. Andrew Hawkins (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6505/andrew-hawkins) and return specialist Travis Benjamin (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7562/travis-benjamin) are going to make the team, too. Second-year receiver Taylor Gabriel (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/10162/taylor-gabriel) and Bowe probably make the team, but fourth-round rookie Vince Mayle (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/10412/vince-mayle) has had a tough camp.
Pryor is the wildcard and Marlon Moore (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6056/marlon-moore) is listed as a wide receiver but last year was a core special teams player. So, that’s eight players for six or seven spots — and seven probably only make it if Moore makes it.
The Browns earlier this week released defensive tackle Phil Taylor (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6537/phil-taylor) despite Taylor having more than $5.4 million guaranteed. Taylor had offseason knee surgery andmight not be healthy (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/09/03/steelers-passing-on-phil-taylor-because-of-knee-problem/) enough to play this season.
Another expensive cut seems unlikely, but what Wilcots said at least adds a little intrigue to Thursday night’s preseason finale and the roster moves that will come in the 30 or so hours that follow.

The guy was reported as having a good effect on the locker room in Cleveland. They're desperate enough to convert Terrelle Pryor into a WR? Even as inconsistent as Bowe was here, I'd still think he was a better option than that.

Mike Pettine: Crowell in line to start; Bowe spot safe

Browns (http://www.nfl.com/teams/clevelandbrowns/profile?team=CLE) coach Mike Pettine gave some clarity to the Cleveland Browns (http://www.nfl.com/teams/clevelandbrowns/profile?team=CLE)' running back situation Thursday night, just in time for all those last minute fantasy drafts.
Pettine said in his post-game press conference that Isaiah Crowell (http://www.nfl.com/player/isaiahcrowell/2550189/profile) has the edge to start in Week 1 against the New York Jets (http://www.nfl.com/teams/newyorkjets/profile?team=NYJ) over Terrance West (http://www.nfl.com/player/terrancewest/2543664/profile). That much became clearer Thursday night as West played the entire first half in the team's preseason finale.

Pettine also went out of his way to dispel a particular rumor floating around Thursday, saying that wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (http://www.nfl.com/player/dwaynebowe/2495558/profile)is in no danger of being cut. While Bowe didn't show much in the preseason, he's due more than $6 million guaranteed this season. Cutting him would be lighting owner Jimmy Haslam's money on fire. The Browns (http://www.nfl.com/teams/clevelandbrowns/profile?team=CLE) were hoping that third round pick Duke Johnson (http://www.nfl.com/player/dukejohnson/2552461/profile)would step up and have a huge role in the backfield, possibly as a starter. But the Florida State product struggled with a hamstring injury early in camp, and is recovering from a concussion. TheBrowns (http://www.nfl.com/teams/clevelandbrowns/profile?team=CLE) figure to use all three backs liberally, and we wouldn't expect many yards in the season opener against the Jets (http://www.nfl.com/teams/newyorkjets/profile?team=NYJ)' massive defensive line.
Still, it was telling that Bowe played into the third quarter of the final preseason game. The team needs Bowe to step up, and he only delivered one catch for eight yards. Pettine sent a message by playing Bowe alongside plenty of Browns (http://www.nfl.com/teams/clevelandbrowns/profile?team=CLE) players that won't be on the roster in 48 hours.

Bowe played like he was stoned. There would be times that he looked like he was on a mission and man he looked good then. Specailly his earlier years. But as he got older, it was just collecting a pay check and appeared to be taking a majority of the plays off. One of his best games in the last 3 years was the game after he got arrested with his Drugs.
