Kansas City Chiefs cut Fred Williams after drafting a receiverBy Joel Thorman (http://www.sbnation.com/users/Joel%20Thorman) @JoelThorman (http://twitter.com/JoelThorman) on May 4, 2016, 4:37p
The 2016 NFL Draft (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-draft) was apparently not good for WR Fred Williams (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/240037/fred-williams). The Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/kansas-city-chiefs)have announced they have cut Williams.
He was on the bottom of the Chiefs roster but he did have a good preseason last year so I figured he would stick around for the summer. It's getting harder to make the Chiefs roster though. They have a lot of good players and they're slowly increasing the talent level, including at receiver where the Chiefs added DeMarcus Robinson in the draft. If Robinson makes the team - good shot he will as a fourth round pick - then there's simply no room for Fred Williams. The Chiefs locks at receiver are Jeremy Maclin (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/71548/jeremy-maclin), Chris Conley (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/254480/chris-conley) and Albert Wilson. Rod Streater has a good shot. Mike Williams (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1510/mike-williams) is competing. There's De'Anthony Thomas if you want to put him there. Tyreek Hill will need a roster spot (if he makes the 53-man roster). The roster spots go quick.
