Day two of Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/kansas-city-chiefs) training camp is here with the Chiefs scheduled for an 8:15 a.m. (Arrowhead Time) practice on the campus of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Chiefs have some nuts and bolts here (http://www.chiefs.com/news/article-2/Seven-Things-to-Keep-in-Mind-When-Youre-Headed-to-Chiefs-Training-Camp/8e0eeb40-a429-467d-a7d5-a8237095109c) like how to get there, autograph days and stuff like that. You can find the roster here (http://www.chiefs.com/team/roster.html).
The highlights from our own Pete Sweeney’s reporting on day one (https://twitter.com/pgsween) were Tamba Hali (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/245867/tamba-hali) starting on the PUP list, Ramik Wilson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/254586/ramik-wilson) lining up next to Derrick Johnson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/3049/derrick-johnson) at inside linebacker and Steven Nelson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/254482/steven-nelson) at outside corner in base defense and sliding inside in subpackages with Terrance Mitchell (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/245487/terrance-mitchell) then going outside. Oh, and Patrick Mahomes was third in line behind Alex Smith (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1839/alex-smith) and Tyler Bray (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/194831/tyler-bray).
Give Pete’s podcast a listen at the top there while we wait for the start of camp today. Myself, Seth Keysor and Danan Hughes talk Mahomes with Pete.
We’ll be collecting updates during camp so you will want to follow @ArrowheadPride (https://twitter.com/arrowheadpride)and @pgsween (https://twitter.com/pgsween)

Yes i think #2 cb is our weakest link. It scares me. Lets hope our pash rush can counter and cover it up some.

I think your wishing. You have confidence in him? Or is it fake it tell you got it? If you dream it than it must come true.
Im not surprised that phillip Gaines isnt in top 3. I doubt he makes team. He always looked out of position for me. His body movements always looked out of whack. Never been impressed with him and never seen what what all the hype was.

Definitely agree about needing to find another CB that can really compliment Peters. Our secondary will definitely be feeling the pressure if our front seven don't live up.

We clearly watched different players. I saw New Orleans throw 7 consecutive balls at him for a TD. He got pulled and the Chiefs defense held the rest of the game. Then as the season went on, he was always the guy people went at on third down.

Slot not the same as a #2 cb in the outside.

Tanoh Kpassagnon is said to be looking like the real deal & is said to be really giving the Tackles a very tough time. This guy has tremendous power & blockers don't stonewall him at the LOS.

The games against the Donkeys should be interesting, because they don't have anybody that can block him. Okung went to the Chargers.

Agreed. I like Terrance Mitchell but we really need to draft a corner that can complement Peters.

Awesome. I really liked everything I red about him after drafting him. Something about physical specimens that stand out to all others excites me.

I cant wait til preseason to start just so i can see what we have depth wise. Want to see who stands out. I think bray will suprise alot of people and keep the #2 spot as long as he stays healthy.

I hope he doesnt start any games. If he does that means alex and bray is injured or that we tanked for season. I still like Bray. If he can stay healthy and has a good preseason then if mahomes is our future bray has trade value if he has good preseason.

The Chiefs also may have found a diamond in the rough with 5th-rounder LB Uligwe, who's already been named a special teams starter & seeing lots of time at ILB.

We both realize that that is a "leap of faith". But it is one that has been much on my mind for a good while now. Bray was a UDFA. Meaning we've paid nothing for him other than his paycheck which in the grand scheme of things has been damn near nothing by NFL standards. If he was "junk" we'd have gotten rid of him long ago. But we've doggedly kept him on the roster while we paid pretty good cash for backup QBs in Chase Daniel and Nick Foles. WHY? Obviously because someone (IMO Reid) thought Bray had the ability to be a good or better starting QB. Is it MAYBE JUST POSSIBLE that with Mahomes and Bray we now have our starting and backup QB for the next 10-15 years???

Of course we have really seen nothing from Bray so far. Not even in pre-season. But perhaps Reid has kept Bray hidden away as a "secret weapon" to be used as a good backup or perhaps TRADE BAIT once Bray has had a chance to show what he has learned in KC? Reid has been known to do that when he was in Philly. Or could we perhaps see Alex traded or released next year and a head-to-head competition between Mahomes and Bray for the starting job in 2018? I remember the vids I watched of Bray when we first picked him up. Cannon for an arm and excellent accuracy. But very raw. Remind you of anyone? (hint...Mahomes).

At the moment all that remains nothing more than fantasy, but if you think about it, it surely does fall into line with the type of thing Reid has done in the past. Fantasy is good. Fantasy that includes some logic is even better.

Thanks Jason for the excellent post!

I will never discount your predictions. They have been right too many times. But I have a hard time imagining Mahomes starting a game this year unless we have already clinched a playoff berth and have no chance of improving our ranking in the playoffs. The only other scenario where I can see Mahomes starting is if Alex is seriously injured, out for a few weeks and Bray struggles as Alex's replacement. But that is just my opinion.

I suspect Special Teams for now and an ILB being groomed for the future (or the next man up if the injury bug hits us). When it comes to seeing raw talent I suspect Toub and Sutton are pretty good.

A lot of Dorsey's (or maybe Reid's) draft chickens are coming home to roost and most of them are starting to look like excellent decisions....even if it took a couple of years.

Y'know Demps....That is the million dollar question. Wish I knew the answer. On the positive side I'm pretty sure Reid had a lot of input in personnel and that won't change. Also as a positive is that Veach arrived from Philly at the same time as Dorsey arrived from Green Bay and surely observed the way Dorsey went about getting players and the way he ran his scouting staff. So that is encouraging as well. Also as a positive is that as good as Dorsey was at personnel, cap management was (to put it politely) not his strong suit so it seems likely that cap management at least will get no worse. But other than those things I think we will just have to wait and see.

Re-quoted for truth. We won't really have much of an idea until late 2018, though.
