Kansas City Chief Larry Johnson Out for Season

KANSAS CITY -- Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is out for the season. This was confirmed by a source within the Chiefs organization with direct knowledge of the situation.
According to the Chiefs initially, Johnson had suffered a mid-foot sprain in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Packers.
However Anderson has learned that Johnson has a broken bone in the left foot.
So far this season Johnson has rushed 158 times for 559 yards.
That total has had Johnson ranked 14th in the league-just behind Travis Henry who’s 13th with 580 yards.
While this injury is bad news for Johnson, it’s a bright spot for the Broncos who’s last ranked rush defense who won’t have to face him.

That sucks if it is confirmed. Looks like Priest and Kolby will have to carry the load. We should be alright.

This might be very unpopular, but if LJ is out for the season, is now maybe the time to throw in Croyle, because even though LJ hasn't had a stellar game this year yet he has taken a lot of the coverage that would have went to TG, Bowe or others, if LJ goes on IR then I would say this may actually be the end of the season, I dont want to believe that but I almost have to.

Would have to say it is time to take out the veterans and get the rooks some playing time. I hope I am proven wrong but seriously. Ouch the other questions is, can LJ use time on IR be on the sidelines working with Kolby Smith and even Priest and work on his perception among a large part of Chiefs fans by not going home and sitting around getting paid. I would like for him to spend a lot of time around the team if nothing more then a cheerleader while he cant play.

Next thing you are going to say is "Since KC Wolf is on IR maybe we should throw in Croyle" Croyle will start evntually. I am starting to get to the point I want Croyle to start and perform just like Huard is right now just to prove to you that it is not the QB's fault the Offense is lackluster. So what happens when Brodie gets thrown in there and he does terrible and his confidence is killed and he never plays to his ability. It doesn't matter how skilled a player is at his position if he doesn't have some protection.

remember, brodie is a very different quarterback than huard. that is why we have to take a risk and see if brody, being more mobile and able to throw the long bombs, is a better quarterback for the team that we have.

The reason there are 9 in the box is cause the 9 players ONLY have to guard the middle (since LJ cant get around the outside) and they can also guard the secondary, like tony G (well they can TRY to guard him, no one can guard him).

They are going to have to pull a man out of the box now cause Priest will beat em around the outside of the field on a run OR screen pass. take your pick. Priest is going to change this offense and expose Larry Johnson's true weaknessess to the Chief's offense.

I never said he sucks I just stated how if he gets put in with the way the O line is playing he won't be as good as everyone thinks he will be. The O-line has to many ups and downs and why would be throw in a second year QB to get killed? I like Brodie and I hope he starts soon but not right now with the way the O-line is playing.

I like how if someone on this site doesn't go with the whole "Take Huard out" "Huard sucks" "Huard is going to run the Chiefs for years to come" "Blame Huard, Huard, Huard!" then they are automatically jumped upon. I have the right to my opinion here and I don't think throwing Brodie in will help the team. I just don't want to see Brodie get thrown in there and his confidence shaken up and screw us up for years to come. Romo sat for a few and look at him. TD said it is serious, TDs quote.
"Oh it is serious. I had the exact same injury, that mid foot sprain in 2000, and I remember trying to come back after 3 weeks and I was never fully healthy. The problem with it is you cannot extend your toe off the balls of your feet. As a running back you need to be able to explode with your feet. If you cannot do that you will not be very productive. As a matter of fact this is an injury that lingers. And after that I had that injury I had a stress fracture and shin splints and it just let to other problems, so he might come back in three to four weeks but he wont be fully healthy."

To that Solomon Wilcox said.
"I think he is gonna lack the elusiveness and the power needed to break tackles..."
We are hearing now from Herm Edwards He may increase his (Priests) load to 15 carries per game. I predict he is going to need more then that from Priest Holmes, but knowing Priest the way that I do,he is going to be able to, I think bounce back and lift this football team, because Priest is the kinda guy that he sees this as an opportunity, uh oh the door just opened for me to get my job back in Kansas City. Do not sleep on Priest Holmes He will produce."

As much as I hate to say this, At this point even without the break, IR might be the best option, bring in a couple new O-Line People try them out, bring in Kolby to test the O-Line I guess (toss up I don't want to break Kolby but don't want to injure Priest, but want to try new things at O-Line cause what we have isn't working.

I also don't want LJ to come back too early and get further possibly career changing or ending injuries. And yes part of that is wanting to protect our RB but part of it is not wanting all that money to go to waste, or have the doubters saying see I told you he wasn't that good, and we should have traded him, just because he tries to play injured and gets further injured.

I dont believe so, the place in Denver is saying it is broke and they got this from a reliable source. I think it is just too convenient that a place from Denver has a story of LJ breaking his foot before anyone from KC hears about it and also that they cant even get the foot right. The source didn't report the wrong foot, the paper did.

I posted this correction after they put it up on their site.

I saw the guys foot get rolled, and it was bad.

It looked like hit toes got rolled all the way back to his ankle.

He most certainly could have broken something. But appearently the Denver paper was using some guess-work here.
