Because Reed and the Hawks couldn't come to terms on a new deal. He was looking for a new deal in the range of 8 to 9 million per year, but the Hawks are strapped for cash so they couldn't agree on a price and allowed him to hit the market.

So, he's going to take 1-2 million, or more, less to play for the Chiefs??? Don't get me wrong; I'm happy to have him for the price but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
