http://www.chiefscrowd.com/forums/images/imported/2008/01/275.jpg (http://www.puxa.com/) Yes, we have to divide up our time like that, between our politics and our equations. But to me our equations are far more important, for politics are only a matter of present concern. A mathematical equation stands forever.

Well since he wasn't able to realize how ill prepared man was before he went and opened his big mouth about splitting the atom, he falls into that category as well!

See, he even says so himself!

Its influence on the shaping of international relations is absolutely incalculable. But America is a large country and its people have so far not shown much interest in great international problems, among which the problem of disarmament occupies first place today.

http://www.chiefscrowd.com/forums/images/imported/2008/01/275.jpg (http://www.gwidgets.com/) How can it be that mathematics, being after all a product of human thought which is independent of experience, is so admirably appropriate to the objects of reality? Is human reason, then, without experience, merely by taking thought, able to fathom the properties of real things.

Why didn't he just say: "That in the grand scheme of things the only thing that we know is that we know nothing"?

Why didn't he just say: "That in the grand scheme of things the only thing that we know is that we know nothing"?

Because what he meant was: "By using human thought we are able to take a measure of the universe without actually experiencing it."
