It does indeed; to think that we will be without the services of Jared Allen after the 08 season.

We will see. all you guys are ready for the worst all the time. Maybe they tagged him so he does not talk to other teams while we adresss our free agent and draft needs and then hammer out a deal with him. It just happened today and people are already saying goodbye.

He still may not be with us this year. If a team wants him bad enough, and gives us two first rounders...he's gone-which would suck!!

I would prefer that to the Tag and then letting him go for nothing. I still believe that they will work out something long term. Just change the name on LJ's contract and pretend they never signed him to big money!! :D

We could still tag him again next year too.

I believe that thwe Chiefs used an "exclusive" form of the franchise tag. Which means that no other team can even negotiate with him. I could be wrong, but I was hearing something to that effect.

Everything I have read says any team could still offer him a deal. Obviously they would have to give up 2 first round draft picks if they did so. Then we could match.

I'm glad the current system allows for players to negotiate for the highest amount possible for their contracts.

Sucks when it is one of our own trying to get his money, but I understand where they are coming from.

i read the pats or philly mightbe interested. i would trade him for the pats 1st rnder. which is #7. a 5th and a 7th could fill alot of holes. i know he needs to get paid but its hard to feel sorry for someone who just landed almost 9 mil and is crying.

Yeah. What would we want to keep any talent on the team for? That might just keep us from getting high draft picks in the future anyway.:D

We have to keep a delicate balance of really good players to players that suck ratio in order to remain mediocre at best.

I see us getting a contract signed with JA. I know Carl drops the ball alot but I don't think he will let JA get away.

Queen Carl screwed this up too. How do you not give the man what he wants. Should've locked him in for 6 years.

Yep!

Carl thinks he's being slick, and is gonna screw this all up for us!

Jared is gone after this year. Carl will make that happen. Just ask John Tait.

Didn't LJ have the tag put on him and then got a contract worked out before the season?

Nope. LJ was still bound by his rookie contract when he held-out.

Ok, I just remember him being obligated to a contract but forgot why! Thanks :bananen_smilies046:
