The Chiefs may have missed out on their top free agent targets, but filled a position of need late Friday night by claiming fullback Oliver Hoyte (6-3, 252) off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

Hoyte, who originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2006, was a middle linebacker in college at North Carolina State. The Dallas Cowboys converted him to fullback, where he played sparingly in 2006 and 2007 on offense, starting eight games. He also contributed on special teams.

Hoyte has his own website, at www.oliverhoyte.com (http://www.oliverhoyte.com/)

I hope he is able to play the position better than Kris Wilson!

How much is he gonna cost?

I personally don't like the move for him. The whole LB to FB, used sparingly, plus very few highlights (DAL) involve him. This is killing me cuz theres a buncha great, young FB's in the draft and Neal and Richardson available...c'mon KC bring back the tru fullback lov.

this is true. they need a player who sent his time as a fullback, not a convert.

I didn't realize that Richardson was available. I say if you can get him on the cheap, then get it done.

We aren't even gonna look at T-Rich now. Not after just signing this guy. I don't know what the deal is with the whole 'converted' FB thing... But Herm seems to love it...

He likes defensive players. If he can find one to play QB, then I bet he will.

Don't give Herm ideas now! It was Herm that had Jared play TE a few times!

He said it was because we were desperate.

I wonder if we're still desperate.

Jared got two TDs playing TE...why is that bad?

Because Herm will keep drafting/signing defensive players until we have nothing but D and they have to play dual roles.

Plus it made JA even more valuable and others will covet him.

Because we didn't have any offensive players that could do the job.

But I thought it was very cool to see J.A. score.

OK but only after the fly-over. (I don't want to get hit by one of the jets...)

Unless it's a New York Jet... They're weak.

HA! Take that, Jets fans. Giants are the ONLY football team from New York. Those other guys are just pretending!

J/K... I hate all teams that aren't the Chiefs equally.
