Van Gogh and Gauguin were freaks.

Can you spot the white iris?

It's "Impressionism" or post "Expressionism" of which Van Gogh was widely regarded as the "Father" thereof. It is also believed that he painted the world around him as he saw it through a drug induced stupor.

But that should look really familiar to HH then...

It is widely regarded that Van Gogh was mentally unstable, but drug use was not the cause.

He was probably a schizophrenic, or had other mental problems.

In the painting there is a white iris that is actually a girl sitting holding a cat in her lap.

...Without a doubt. Another little known tid-bit is that it is, also, believed by some art historians that the ear cutting incident was not actually self inflicted but was actually a result of a bitter falling out between him and Gauguin that turned brutishly physical.

I heard that very thing last night on the show I was watching, which reminded me of the white iris.

It seems the most talented are often the most disturbed.

I like "Starry Night" as well.

royals neglected it, and it is one of my personal favorites so I snuck it in...

My all time personal favorite quote from Ali though has to be when he told Howard Cosell "Cosell, you're a phony, and that thing on your head comes from the tail of a pony."
