Diamondbacks put Byrnes, Snyder on 15-day DL

PHOENIX (AP)—On a painful day in the desert, the Arizona Diamondbacks (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/ari/;_ylt=AnMYLDT9m.4ZlcOaC7VouwKpu7YF) put left fielder Eric Byrnes (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6558/;_ylt=AqgBo1uXURxop.4ghHsagFupu7YF) and catcher Chris Snyder (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7409/;_ylt=AiHpUpTicA2yTKXCS7epOtOpu7YF) on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
Byrnes is out with a strained left hamstring, Snyder with a left testicular fracture.
For Byrnes, the move comes eight days after he came off the DL, where he spent a month with injuries to both hamstrings.
Byrnes hurt his hamstring as he tried to steal third in the second inning of Arizona’s 6-3 victory over Milwaukee on Monday night. Byrnes pulled up as he went into his dive, never reached the bag and was thrown out by Jason Kendall (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5562/;_ylt=AgtVeT90jjyuF8IfxyGmMMepu7YF).
Arizona manager Bob Melvin said he didn’t think Byrnes had come back too soon.
“How he felt, and the feedback we were getting from him, he was healthy enough to come back and felt like healthy enough to play on an everyday basis,” Melvin said.
Byrnes missed 25 games in his last trip to the DL, and Melvin said he fears this stint could be longer.

Robertson appeared in three games for Oakland last year, allowing four runs and six hits in two innings.

Snyder left Monday night’s game after being hit in the groin area by a foul tip and underwent an MRI on Tuesday. The club put him on the DL about an hour before Tuesday night’s game against Milwaukee.
