Chris Chambers, a Dolphin for all six of his NFL seasons, declined to submit to an on-site Breathalyzer test to determine his blood-alcohol level, but blew a level of 0.06 after he was taken to the county jail, the report said. In North Carolina, a driver with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher is considered to be legally impaired. The arresting officer noted that Chambers, 28, emitted a "very strong odor" of alcohol, had watery or glassy eyes and mumbled his words. The officer said Chambers told him he had earlier consumed one alcoholic beverage. A person's blood-alcohol level will decrease with time. Subjected to six physical and oral tests, Chambers was unable to stand on one leg for more than a few seconds, twice could not recite the alphabet from J to W without missing letters and did not follow instructions when asked to count backward from a given number.
