Let's try this again. There was a problem with the first event. All bets were returned.

Huard should get the nod, but I went with the "dog" that has the backing of his head coach. (Who, by the way, needs to stay away from the offense. IMO.)

I'm going to go with Damon for the experience factor. Especially if LJ is still sitting by the beginning of the season.

I had originally thought that Croyle was going to get the nod, and may still yet, but with the sticky LJ situation I'm going to go ahead and go with Huard.

After what I saw tonight, it is Croyle's job to lose.

Mr Croyle, please. You guys should be proud of me. I'm betting on something that I'm not 100% sure on.

I am going to open this back up with updated odds for anyone who wants to bet. It will close it at the start of the New Orleans game since Hermie has said that he will name the QB after that game.

1/1 ?

Maybe I don't understand betting here but doesn't that mean if I bet 65 I just get that 65 back?

1/1 means that you win 1 for every 1 that you bet. So if you bet 65, you would get back your 65, plus another 65 in winnings for a total of $130.

If odds were 2/1. You would win 2 for every 1 bet, etc.

Huard named as Chiefs starting quarterback
By ADAM TEICHER
The Kansas City Star
Damon Huard has won the Chiefs quarterback competition and will start the regular season opener Sept. 9 against the Texans in Houston.

Coach Herm Edwards seemed to be leaning toward starting Brodie Croyle. But Edwards apparently changed his mind after Croyle's disappointing play in Thursday night's preseason loss to New Orleans.

Huard, because of a sore calf muscle, did not play against the Saints. He did not lead the Chiefs to any touchdowns in either of the first two preseason games, but he had some success last season filling in for Trent Green.

:mob: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like many of us just lost our shirts.

I agree. It could change before the first game. Shouldn't pay out anything yet.

Hope he tweaks that calf some more. Nothing bad. Just enough to get Croyle in there so we can at least get our money.

Peter King just made the Someone else options intriguing.

Chiefs the only team mentionerd in the article. . just specualtion

it's not known how many teams would be interested in acquiring Leftwich, because the move comes as such a shock. But Kansas City and coach Herman Edwards would surely be intrigued. The Chiefs have grown wary of placing their quarterbacking future in the hands of second-year passer Brodie Croyle, who has had a poor camp this summer.

I don't think it will happen. CP wanted Damon and that is the outcome.

It's an interesting thought. But it will never happen because that would mean that Carl and Herm would have to admit that their QB experiment didn't work. And they won't do that at first anyway. Not until it's too late and Leftwich has signed with another team.
