View Full Version : This could be interesting (Marvin Harrison)

But probably won't... He'll probably end up a Raider or Cowboy.

After the two sides couldn’t agree on a restructured contract, WR Marvin Harrison asked the Colts to release him, a league source said Sunday night.

As much as the team would rather not — and Colts president Bill Polian acknowledged Sunday that it’s a tricky situation — Harrison is a luxury that Indianapolis can no longer afford.

Now that Harrison has declined to restructure his contract, the Colts have little choice but to let him and his $13.4 million salary-cap number go. It will mark the end of an illustrious 13-year career in Indianapolis, where Harrison and QB Peyton Manning formed one of the greatest quarterback-receiver tandems in NFL history.

Already the speculation about where Harrison will land is beginning. For starters, Harrison is determined to continue playing. A logical landing spot would be the receiver-needy Philadelphia Eagles, where Harrison would be reunited with his former Syracuse teammate, QB Donovan McNabb, while getting to play in the city where he lives.

If he were more of a leader, i'd think about it. But he's too old for THIS team IMO.

Agreed, he is just too old for us, and certainly I don't think he will demand 13 million in free agency.

I agree Harrison was great once, he is too old and is not the same Marvin Harrison that we all drafted for fantasy football a few years back.

Harrison is likely to end up in Phili. It has been talked about via NFL NEtwork and they were all in agreeance that McNabb to Harrison would be exceptional and since Harrison already lives in Phili that it is a perfect fit. However, the Eagles have yet to pursure the future HOF WR , I would be surprised to not see him go there but with Jerry Jones chompin at the bit to get anyone with speed in a Wide out or slot position, Harrison could easily end up in Dallas.
Isn't that where his car wash is?
Make sure you bring plenty of tokens and ammo for a clean car at:
Marvin Harrisons' "Suds and Bullets" Car Wash.
You come in with a filthy dirty piece of crap.
You leave with a beautiful, sparkling clean automobile shot full of bullet holes..

It won't happen. But I can't say I wouldn't mind signing him for just a year while Franklin and Robinson develop.

I don't think the Raiders will pick him up. They have plenty of young talent. Phili would be a good bet. Possibly the 49ers, Ravens, and the Bucs too.

I'm disappointed in Marvin for making this choice.

I thought he got released. That's not his choice. Colts couldn't afford him, it sounded like.

He's a washed up has-been with baggage.
Sound familiar?

The Colts tried to get him to rework his contract down from the $13mm he was scheduled to make. Instead, he chose to test free agency.

RUMORS FLY OF MARVIN TO MIAMI (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/02/26/rumors-fly-of-marvin-to-miami/)

With veteran receiver Laveranues Coles suddenly on the market and his old friend Chad Pennington playing quarterback in Miami, the NFLhttp://www.chiefscrowd.com/forums/images/imported/2009/02/42.jpg (http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/#) rumor mill should be linking Coles to the Fins.
But it’s not.
Instead, there’s a rampant rumor right now that former Colts star Marvin Harrison could eventually land with the Dolphins.
The Fins need help at the receiver position; the question is whether Harrison has enough left in the tank to make a difference.

The rumors are rampant on FA eve!

No way does Marvin land in miami. Parcells is well known to prize players with the right size, statistics and age. If you look at what he's done in miami he tends to pick up talented undrafted free agents and talented guys coming off their rookie contracts whose best years are ahead of them. He does not pick up guys coming off their 2nd or 3rd big contract. You overpay for those guys. Wherever Marvin ends up I wish him well but it won't be in miami.

Except Chad Pennington, I guess.
