View Full Version : Shout Out From a Pats Fan

I'm a hard core Patriots Fan, since way before the bandwagon started rolling in 2001, and with many cold, losing Sunday afternoons in the old Foxboro Stadium to prove it! I also consider myself a fan of the NFL and am pretty knowledgeable about its history. As a result, I have long held the Hunt family and the Texans/Chiefs franchise in high regard for the role they have played in the evolution of the modern NFL.

Like every Pats fan, I was realistic but sad when "Piolichick" was busted up and Scott made his way to Kansas City. But the more I thought about it, there are few places I would rather have seen him go than to the Chiefs. You have a guy at the helm who knows how to build champions; Todd Haley seems to be a perfect complement to him, reminiscent of Pioli's relationship with Coach Belichick.

Now, you have Vrabes and Matt. I think you guys got the better part of the deal but I also think it was a lot more "fair" than some of the mediots are suggesting.

Bottom Line: I now have another team to pull for, except of course, when you're playing the Pats or competing with them for a Playoff spot. Otherwise, I hope you raise Holy Heck in the AFC West and kick some Bronco and Charger butt!

Yeah, I don't like em very much either, but they're not gonna be a threat to us for a while. The Broncos and Chargers always give us problems. An extra "L" or two for each of them will always be handy at Playoff time.

Man, whats with all the love from the Pats fans? If all goes well we kill one dynasty so that we have our own.

Kidding..

Thanks for the support, the way it looks right now, we owe a lot of gratitude to the Pats organization.

Well, I was trying not to say anything as I just can't stand Brady and the Pats as the whole situation keeps reminding me of Elway and the Donks. We hired Pioli to make us into the next hopefull Dynasty as The Chiefs have it coming after all Lamar Hunt did. I don't use the word hate very often but, in some situations it is required. PatsFan4Chiefs , please don't take this as a personal attack on you but more so at the Patriots as a Team. I hate the Pats for what has happened over the last decade. It is actually more of a envious thing but excelled beyond to a slight hatred of the organization and truth be spoken, I have cheered against them in every Superbowl they played in and I am a proAFC kinda guy which is kinda hypocritical but hey what can I say I am human. I been a Chiefs fan since day 1 of my life, the first gift I ever recieved was the plaque I am using as my avatar on this forum. The Arrowhead is made of metal that came from the old Memorial Stadium the Chiefs played in when they first arrived in KC. It is my most valued Chiefs possession but that is another story. I am sooooooo happy that Clark Hunt made the move to aquire Scott Pioli as I think if there is any team that deserves the winning ways is KC Chiefs. I can't say that I wish the Pats well as it would be a lie and I won't degrade myself to say it so all I will say is this," Thanks for the kind words sir but keep in mind, when it comes to teams in the NFL I only cheer one of them and that is the Kansas City Chiefs."
Until we meet in the Play Offs,
pCe out.

I take every word of that as a compliment! Most Pats fans have learned to "embrace the hate." In fact, we thrive on it. In the post Cap/FA era, no team was supposed to go to five AFCCG's, play in four SB's and win three of them, all in just seven years. If I were you, I'd hate us too; 1970 was a long time ago. :D

But, I'll still cheer for the Chiefs when they're playing anybody but us or competing for a Playoff spot with us.

I agree with all of this. (And I warned you guys there'd be more of my kind around now. LOL) We won't back a guy like Ratgini, but we have love for Pioli (and Crennel if he comes to KC) as well as our old players. You're going to become the 2nd team for a lot of Pats fans whether you like it or not. Hahaha Hopefully you guys can win some games soon and start to be hated like we are. You'll learn to enjoy it and feed off of it like some sort of football vampire.

Oh don't get me wrong, that was HORRIBLE, but probably for the best for both of us. Many of us wanted Cassel cut in favor of Matt Gutierrez at the beginning of last season. We forgot the golden rule to ignore the Patriots pre-season plays. (Well, he did look pretty awful in relief of Brady the prior season.) But Tom always said Matt was good and he was right about that. Nice to get some value for him and see him go to a team we don't entirely hate. Unlike many Pats fans, I thought the trade was just about right. I kinda didn't think we were going to keep Vrabel anyway, so I saw that aspect of the deal as more of a move to keep him out of the AFCEast. Time will tell, but either way you guys can use him.

Patsfans4chiefs,
I never and i mean never am nice to opposing teams fans coming in here talking. I will give you credit, you seem like a smart educated person. you have stood here and taken some reticule and only represented your team well with your replies.
I must agree with Kansas city Chris in that i have never rooted for the pats even though they are AFC. I will be honest to say probably out of resentment. I appreciate you comming in here and hope that you frequent often.

I hear ya, if I was in your shoes I would most likely feel the same way but as for all of your success, it would seem we have the main peice to your puzzle and when your a peice short in the NFL, your stay here is not for long ;) hee hee hee.....

I would say that you have "a" main piece of the puzzle but not "the" main piece. The way I see it over the past eight years, it's been a combination of the Krafts, Pioli, Belichick and Brady that got the Pats where they are.

I put the Krafts first, because ultimately it is the quality, commitment and focus of ownership that defines the elite franchises of the NFL (I add "focus" because I believe that the Chiefs franchise has the quality of ownership, but that, for whatever reason, it has not been focused on building a winner in recent years--I personally ascribe a lot of that to the illness of Mr. Hunt, one of the great men in the history of the NFL). Ultimately long-term, consistent success in the NFL is driven by ownership. There is no better example of the truth of this than the foolishness of Dan Snyder and Woody Johnson.

That said, I don't think that the Pats yet belong among the elite franchises, but I do think that the Krafts want to take them there, like the Mara's and Rooney's have taken the Giants and Steelers to that level over the decades and as Jerry Jones has done for the Cowboys in recent years and, as much as it hurts me to say this as a Pats fan, the Irsays as well. To do that, Robert and Jonathan Kraft will have to assure that there is a "next act" after Pioli and, yes, after Belichick and Brady as well.

Time, then, will tell whether you are right, our "stay here is not for long" and the Pats are remembered as the team that dominated the 2000's and not as one of the great franchises of the league. However, from what I know of the Krafts, I think they want to move the franchise into that elite company. So, I'd hold off on that prediction for a few years if I were you.

Thanks for the nice words and honesty. I'm not a troll, as you have figured out. I just like to talk NFL with knowledgable folk. And talk some trash when we play each other, of course.

The Chiefs are starting to take on the feel of a team/franchise that I can really like. As long as you were fooling around with Herm (I live in NYC and watched Edwards up close with the Jests for a few years) and Thigpen, I didn't take you seriously. I thought of you as a young team with a great pedigree that had a ton of cap room and potential but no direction, which is fatal in the NFL. Now, I take you seriously. When you become a threat, which will be sooner rather than later, I won't be so "touchy feely."

Gotta warn you, I am not one to hold back on much which is how I roll. The fact is, when you remove a gear from a transmission and try to replace it with something similiar but not the very same quality, the transmission causes a drop in horse power. This is how I see what has happened to your Pats. We removed the turbo from your engine and not knowing much about who replaced him , I doubt the person is up to the same par that Scott Pioli brings to the table so I expect that the team will slowly lose it's grip on the AFC East. While your here bro, take a long look at my sig, you are getting sleepy,,, very sleepy.....

Great response! Thanks. And, the only answer I can come up with is "time will tell." It's also not inconsistent with being a great franchise to wander around in the desert for a few years, as did the Steelers and Giants.

I'm taking a long term view here, which is really the only way to understand the NFL. I think that the Krafts have no intention of selling the team or handing practical control over to anyone else but family, so I think the Pats will be players for a long time. Bob Kraft himself is only 67 and Jonathan is still in his 40's. They have turned a dog team into the second or third most valuable franchise in the NFL. They have no intention of slowing down. So, I'd hedge that bet if I were you. :)

Thats the reason I am who I am and why I can feel confidant of the calls I make. I know how the NFL is and I havewatched it happen with even the best of Organizations. Steelers for example, they have won more SB's than any other team out there but, after they won the first 4 they went through a very long down spell because of the rule changes that hampered their defense and the need to rebuild. Depending on how well Brady actually heeled up and if he is nervous in the pocket now after experiencing a busted knee will define how long the Pats stay where they are right now as we have their backup on our team now, we have their Defensive leader and we have the man that was responsible for bringing in all the talent they have currently. They have alot riding on the fact that Brady is back and your 11 win QB is gone.If I was a Pat fan I would be very worried about that but, I'M NOT :D

Once again, every point you make is a good one, and fairly taken. Any Patriots fan who tells you that he isn't concerned about how (and how quickly) Tommy will come back this year is either delusional or lying. The odds are that he'll be just fine after he shakes off the cobwebs and takes some "Welcome Back" hits from opposing D's for a few games. But, there's always a chance that he won't be the same.

My bottom line is that after nine championship games (five AFCG's and four SB's) and three Lombardi's in seven years in the Cap and FA era, it's hard to ask for more. Sure, I'd like Brady to tie Bradshaw and Montana with four rings. I'd like Belichick to join Noll as the only HC with four SB's and challenge Lombardi's five League Championships. The truth is that I'll be disappointed if those things don't happen, but I'll still feel that, as a fan, I've had one of the greatest runs in modern sports history with this team.
