Agreed entirely. Many writers just aren't getting it.

Our entire draft was built around the premise of (1) getting a real rush defense; and (2) getting depth in the later rounds. That's it. And given that we had one first day pick, the fact that we accomplished both goals makes this draft (excluding maybe a couple later picks) a pretty great one.

Here is what the NFL.com says about our draft.

Chiefs: If there were any doubts that Pioli and coach Todd Haley are all about the concept of team, look at what's gone on this week alone. They trade away the one true face of the franchise (http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80fef85e&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true), tight end Tony Gonzalez -- for a 2010 second round pick, at that -- then they draft non-marquee players at non-marquee positions through most of the draft.
Pioli, using the successful formula he learned over the years with Belichick, wants to build the Chiefs from the guts out. He started by selecting LSU defensive end Tyson Jackson (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/profiles/tyson-jackson?id=71341), who wasn't considered among the top defenders at the front end of the draft but he was the best defensive end for what Pioli and Haley want to build. The next two picks also came on defense and the fourth was an offensive lineman.
Take away Matt Cassel (http://www.chiefscrowd.com/players/mattcassel/profile?id=CAS541133) (who hasn't taken a snap for the Chiefs), running back Larry Johnson and maybe wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (http://www.chiefscrowd.com/players/dwaynebowe/profile?id=BOW091822) and name another player on the Chiefs roster in three seconds. Take a little longer than that doesn't it? Now, take away Tom Brady (http://www.chiefscrowd.com/players/tombrady/profile?id=BRA371156), Randy Moss (http://www.chiefscrowd.com/players/randymoss/profile?id=MOS699912) and Wes Welker (http://www.chiefscrowd.com/players/weswelker/profile?id=WEL219433) and name another player

Exactly. I think NFL.com is trying to say that we did well, but it started off as a little backhanded. No matter, I think we did do well. Our defense is better this year, and after last year there was not too many places to go but up.

I really am still fuming over the AFCPTWRU trade, AND with the fact that we traded him on NEXT year's draft. I still have to wonder how that helps us this year, but maybe it does, there are a lot of moves that can happen yet this season.

i think we did well mike mayock was saying that tyson jackson was a safe pick. and that he was alot less likely to be a bust than raji. that being said i do not care what the draft grades are right now. when the chargers drafted ryan leaf everybody and i mean everybody gave them an a+ look how that turned out

I hope that you didn't write that last line about take away the players and name another in 3 seconds because that is a test any stupid fan can't pass. Most of the members in this site can answer the question no porblem and I have to say that thetactic is somewhat lame but effective to the avg fan. You and I on the other hand can name quite a few like Bobby Engram, Brad Cottam ,Tyler Thigpen, Brody Croyle Albert Brandon, Mike Goff. My point is that when a question like that is asked, it depends on who you intend to impress when it's asked, I am not but on the other hand, maybe you were I dunno but I do know that Pioli and Haley damn sure know who is on the team and they are building a good one.

Look at our Defense. We NOW have,
Dorsey,Jackson ,MaGee Hali for DLinemen, DJ, Mike Vrabel ,Zach Thomas and Montey Beisel for LBs to complete our front 7 (Hali may now be a rotation guy).

Cassell(QB)
LJ(RB)

I totally believe in 1 draft class with limited pick selections compared to what Herm and CP did last year , Scott Pioli and Todd Haley totally turned our team around through the 2009 draft & FA .The serious part is that they are not finished as more UDFA and FA will be taken on and they will boil the team down to a 53 man roster that will blow the team we had in the last 4 years away IMO. Great job and honor to the Chiefs management.:bananen_smilies046:

you do know that his name is Brandon Albert, not Albert Brandon right?
