What do you guys think? He can play 4-3 or 3-4 and could easily start and/or add solid depth at a minimum. Plus, I am sure he has a few miles left in the tank. On top of that, according to many, he will not "demand" tons of cash to sign.

He could help solidify our front four.

He's not big enough to play 3-4 DE and wasn't very good in the Cowgirls 3-4. Why do we need him?

6'5" 265 is not big enough?

He did play 3-4 with the Cowgirls and had 8 sacks last year and 12.5 in 2007. We will also play some 4-3.

Who do we have that is proven to better than him? He had almost as many sacks as our entire defense and he plays in a tougher division.

Greg Ellis is a good 3-4 OLB and would immediately be the best pass rusher on our team. He would also make our linebackers even older than they already are.

LMAO! That was pretty evident, eh?

Cowboys D= #1

Chiefs D= #32

Nice assist!

This was my comparison. Hali had descent stats when Jared Allen was oppisite him. Ellis had Ware on the opposite side from him. What's would his stats be with us. He would be a starter, but were, at what LB position? At 31 he would make our LB group really old.

Yeah, I don't see the problem with signing Ellis to be our OLB opposite Vrabel. Hali is a work in progress right now, and we could use a proven guy in the spot. Just so long as we don't overpay him CP-style.

Well..Mark Clayton (aka the Crypt Keeper) said that Ellis would not "command" huge money but would be a very nice pick-up for the value. I am hoping this holds some merit.

The voice of the cowgirls said on 610 sports today that Ellis is a great person to be around and loves to teach the game of football to younger players. Had 8 sacks last year as a part-time player. Usually only played on 1st down and in nickel situations. I say sign him if we can.

Ellis would make our defense very formidable. I think its a good pickup

Ellis signed with the Raiders. I think their D will be pretty solid this year.

Sh*t, that sucks man! We need to make sure that he is not an issue when we pay them now. What system are the Faiders using ?

With Cable as their coach their Defense is a key feature and that is not really different for them at all. Usually they would feature a high power long pass Offensive attack and Davis is still making that a sinch because he went after that speedy kid in the draft. I will prolly get heackled for this but, I think they will be better than expected. Garcia is gonna most likely take over at some point and that is what they do , Al Davis is famous for bringing in QB's that are considered done and the next thing you know they are in the damn Superbowl.

Yeah, the Raiders aren't as bad as everyone thinks, especially on defense.

The problem is that their OL isn't very good, their WRs are unproven (to say the least), Garcia is too old, and Russell stinks. Their defense may be top-10, but their offense will be terrible and turn-over prone. I see them at 6-10/7-9 this season, tops.

This is the very same scenerio that Al Davis puts his team into almost every time they win the damn Superbowl. Plunket was considered to old and their OL was not very good. They had King for a RB and the Defense was good enough to stop other team from scoring in the playoffs, yet they go from the wildcard to winning it all. This time, their OL isn't very good, their WRs are unproven (to say the least), Garcia is too old, and Russell stinks. Their defense may be top-10 which may be good enough to do what is needed. I hate Al Friggin Davis!

Time will tell, obviously. I will say that Plunkett was 36, and Garcia's going to be 39, and those three years are pretty important. And they also had Marcus Allen, Todd Christensen, and a ferocious OL. None of which they have now.

I hate Al Davis too, but I'm more worried about Arrowhead being destroyed by a tidal wave than I am the Raiders winning a SB in 2009.

Garcia is way more athletic and versatile than Plunkett. In my opinion, Garcia is just as good, if not better than several #1's in the league.

For lack of a better cliche...He has been treated like a booty call....LMAO!

You mean he isn't one? Hmmmmmmmm..... wonder why the Faiders picked him up then? They always seem to pick up the bottom of the barrell just before their careers die.

Some might say the same about us.

That's true. I have heard that said about us before...

Well, saying it and actually being true are 2 different things bro. Al Davis is one of those owners that thinks every pro has a kick A$$ year left in them after they leave football. I have heard him say it in interviews. The man has brought more men back into football than Uncle Sam has back into the military. I can name 5 right off the top of my head that he has done it with, I can't when it comes to us.

Faingers:Jim Pluncket, Jerry Rice, Rich Gannon,John Matusak,Warren Sapp,(I can name more if those aren't enough)
Chiefs:Preist Holmes,Joe Montana,Marcus Allen (Can't think of any others)

My point is we usually don't bring in players past their time and at the end of their prime. We may not get players when they are in their prime but we don't get them after it , usually before it if they even have one.

I don't think you can mock the Raiders for signing Jerry Rice, Jim Plunkett, or Rich Gannon, as they were all prett important parts of Raiders SB teams.

Bad older signings by the Chiefs, just in the 2000s include Ty Law, Donnie Edwards, Patrick Surtain, and Kyle Turley.

Law and Surtains' better days were well behind them when they came to KC.

That is true but, the men they replaced weren't as good as them when they got here.I believe Surtain replaced McCleon who royally sucked and Law replaced Warfield who was becoming a foul machine. After their first seasons with us both of them were done.

The question isn't whether they were better than the guys they replaced (although Law and Turley were better than no one). It's that the Chiefs from 2001 to 2008 kept signing over-the-hill guys to big contracts in an effort to win now. We had a league-wide reputation for doing such. And the Raiders, for all of their faults, didn't. No one criticizes the Raiders for signing Gannon, Romonowski, or Rice, simply because they got to a SB with those signings. And Al Davis only signed one guy past his prime (Sapp) in that time that was a terrible signing. Most of the terrible signings Davis made were younger players (Walker, Kelly, Hall, etc.), not older ones.

And I didn't even mention the big contracts we gave to mediocre guys like Kendrell Bell and Damien McIntosh. We were overpaying medicore people to come to KC because CP couldn't find another way to get FAs.

Thankfully, that era is past for the Chiefs. But that era is indefensible.

Your age is showing JM, your only stating guys that are recent. The Raiders have been known for bringing them in ever since they have been founded and if you deny that your just kidding yourself. Read a lil bit about their history, I have lived it bro. I been alive and watching the KC vs Oakland to La back to Oakland feud since it was founded. How about back when they first played in Candle stick Park because they had no field, Ok, I wasn't born then but they did do that. Players like Stabler was considered at the end of his career, so was Matusak and Lyle Alzaido , They didn't just start with Plunket , Gannon , Rice and Sapp. They have made a livin off of bringing in guys considered over the hill and quite frankily Al Davis is proud of it. He always has done it and if you ever watch the NFL Films stuff with the Raiders in it which I watch everything NFL on the NFL Network they also refer to that during Americas Game when showcasing the Superbowl teams. Why do you think I hate them so much, because they have done it and won Championships, we haven't. Now if you enjoy talking about our failures I don't but you can continue without me as I believe I made my point.

Exactly how long do you think a reputation lasts? Most fans aren't think thinking back to Plunkett when they talk about the Raiders reputation. Otherwise the Raiders would have the reputation for winning, and they don't anymore. People don't think back to Grogan for the Pats reputation, or they'd have a reputation as losers. There's a difference between knowing history and being stuck in the past. And for better or worse, the Chiefs are now the team with the rep for signing old players to big contracts, not the Raiders. It will take a few years for us to shed it.

The raiders didn't 'bring in' Stabler at the end of his career. He was drafted by the raiders and spent his entire career there. Matuszak played the last 6 years of his 9 year career with the raiders - not exactly brought in at the end of his career. I'll give you Alzado, but he was still a beast the 4 years he was with the raiders...

Albert Lewis and Kevin Ross were quite the backfield tandem in their day. I hope those days are coming back.

Alzado was a Steroid hound. When they play that Americas game they always refer to bringing Stabler into the scene when he was under high debate about his talent because of his injuries he was always suffering. Now I don't follow their history so close I know more about them than what NFL Films presents. I don't sit and read up on them LOL.I know they drafted Cliff Branch, Al Davis does draft alot of WR and RB but not alot of QBs, he usually brings them in from other teams.Same with his Defensive players.I will just say I am glad we are finally drafting players that will turn out to be something down the road, been long over due IMO.

As are a grand portion of players after him, including many today. Of course, HGH has been the drug for the past 15-20 years as well due to the inability to detect it.

Don't get me started on the PED thing!!!

LMAO!
