Edit 2: In spite of any personal opinions one can't deny that the Eagles are loaded on offense. The addition of Vick only adds another dimension to an already stacked corps of specialist (Maclin, McNabb, DeSean, Westbrook, Vick, Curtis, McCoy, etc...)

Vick is in for some interesting times in Philadelphia. Those people are going to rip him up unless he does some hugely magnificent things there. I could not think of a better place for him to go, both from being a Chiefs fan, and for the payback he will receive for the things he has done wrong.

The weird thing is, Andy Reid said he was happy with his QB situation and wasn't interested in Vick just a couple days ago. I wonder who all was pulling for him to be in Philly.

Vick is in for some interesting times in Philadelphia. Those people are going to rip him up unless he does some hugely magnificent things there. I could not think of a better place for him to go, both from being a Chiefs fan, and for the payback he will receive for the things he has done wrong.

Don't forget he can only play 2 preseason games then he has to wait for the Commis to say if he can play early or not.

The Wildcat offense i see being dead in a year or so, so i don't see them using it like that. Their back-up got injured (Kolb or Knolb i don't know his name) so he'll be a back up or just a KR or PR

He'll be re-instated. The NFL likes its story lines, just like any other form of entertainment. The "Wait-and-see" factor is just to provide an element of suspense/offer an out to the organization if he's brazen enough to do something else as stupid as his dog fighting ring. They're betting that he won't, and I'm betting that that's a pretty safe bet.

Despite the horrendous things he's done, I'm sure Vick will behave as a stand-up guy the remainder of his NFL career. Whether this behavior truly reflects the man's actual moral compass doesn't really matter. Vick paid just about the most severe of tolls for his actions and had "the life" taken away from him. It visibly shook him. He wants money more than he wants to see dogs slaughter each other.

Don't get me wrong, I think the guy's an (pardon the pun) S.O.B for essentially torturing animals, but I'm quite certain that he at least learned that he can't indulge in behavior like that while he's associated with an international commercial product like the NFL.

I am curious, though, if the Eagles will find a way to get Michael in their offense this year, since he probably won't be playing QB unless McNabb gets hurt. I'm also wondering about the figures. How much did he get signed for? He was bragging a few months back that he'd get a 30 or 50 mil contract. It would really ease my mind to know that he got something significantly less.

I think your post is a good one. I think it is a safe bet that he is not going to blow his second chance. Especially since there are going to be so many eyes on him right now. I doubt he will be able to take a piss without someone looking over his shoulder.

Local talk radio and news reports have played quotes of fans on both sides from everything to "I think it's great and he deserves a second chance" to "He doesn't belong on our team let alone a football field at all. A second chance in life is one thing but playing in the NFL is a priviledge."

Hey I think he's a troublemaker like TO and will only hurt the team so that's great he's in Philly. McNabb hasn't been what he used to be in the early five years of this decade, since his aging and his injuries. So this could also set up a QB controversy.

IM baffled why they signed him, they don't need him. But maybe thats why they took a chance on him.

They signed Vick because their offensive playmakers have been dropping like flies from injuries. Vick will be a decoy and a Wildcat guy, nothing more. And he's never going to see that 2nd year money - it was probably only included so he could save face.

Yeah, I haven't been posting much, but I've been lurking the forums pretty steadily this entire off season. Now that football's back, I'm sure I'll be a little more vocal in here again.

I told this to a female Eagles fan today who is a huge dog lover and huge Vick hater and she laughed really hard at this beagle line!


I heard on 610 today that McNabb actually fought to bring Vick to Philly. But hey, McNabb was benched last year; I guess it could happen again...

And apparently McNabb and Vick are good friends so I guess that would also cut down on the likelihood of a controversy emerging.

That's also neat that both KC and Philly have 610 as a local sports radio program. :)
