Jamaal Charles - Fantasy Sleeper

I have a fantasy football draft tomorrow and I was reading some articles on one site I go to quite a bit and stumbled across this list of sleepers for the upcoming season, which happened to list Charles. Thought I'd share.

Jamaal Charles RB, KC (http://fftoday.com/stats/playerprofile.php?PlayerID=2902) – Jamaal Charles appeared in every game last year, but his two best games showed his ability: a 106-yard rushing performance against Tampa Bay in week 8, and a 102 yard receiving day against Miami in week 16. Word from Kansas City training camp is starting RB Larry Johnson has a more refined focus and is chomping at the bit to show he still has it. But Charles should remain in the fray as a third down specialist and occasional replacement for Johnson during games.

New Kansas City head coach Todd Haley found success last year as the offensive coordinator using the spread offense for the NFC champs Arizona Cardinals. And new QB Matt Cassel found similar success utilizing a similar scheme with New England. Even though the Chiefs’ skill position players fall woefully short of matching those of the Patriots and Cardinals, the Chiefs could still incorporate such an offensive approach to some degree in 2009. If that’s the case, Charles could see some value as a pass-catching runner out of the backfield. And considering Johnson has missed 12 games over the past two years, Charles’ multi-dimensional skill set could increase his value should he become the full-time starter at any time.

I have Jamaal Charles as a handcuff for Larry Johnson in two of the leagues I'm in. I don't expect him to put up numbers much better than he did last year so long as LJ is healthy, but I think he's a decent handcuff option.

I thought he was no.3 behind Jackie Battle? Or is that just preseason nonsense...Charles really doesnt look as good to Battle in my eyes...If you want a sleeper RB take LeSean McCoy from PHI...they have been incorporating him alot in their offense thus preseason, and god forbid if something were to happen to B.Westbrook (which can certainly happen as he is always going through something) he will have tons of opportunities on a great offense with a very solid O-Line...McCoy is being taken after the other rookie RB's, and i think he will do quite well this season just wait...

I think Battle definitely is better than Charles at this point. I just see more drive in him. Though, I really don't want either of them with the ball in their hands because they fumble way too much.

You obviously wrote this before watching tonights game. Charles is a freaking stud waiting to break out.
