Not good. Zack was an awesome player with a huge motor and a lot of heart. Hopefully Mays will prove to be just like him...only better.

Kind of saw this comeing seeing that he had not played preseason. It was worth the gamble to sign him. GO CHIEFS!

Well why did we sign him? Unless he figured out his body won't allow him to play anymore.

We signed him for that one or 2 last good games he might have had left. I think that it finaly set in on him that he cant play anymore.

Report: Chiefs LB Zach Thomas Will*Retire - Arrowhead Pride (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2009/8/31/1009700/report-chiefs-lb-zach-thomas-will#comments)

I'm not really dissapointed in the decision. The guy missed a ton of the off season. I think we got what we paid for in mentorship to some of the new guys and DJ for that matter in transitioning into a new scheme and I'm somewhat glad he came to this decision to open up some roster space for the younger guys who have shown some potential so far (Belcher and Mays specifically)

I am sure he does not get the full amount on his contract.

Given how much he's been on the field, he shouldn't get paid a damn thing.

Thankfully corey mays was one of the bright spots in the preseason. Hopefully with gametime he will prove to be a solid starter that can play for years~

Corey Mays and Jovan Belcher were both pretty good, though Mays was definitely impressive.

Interesting- ESPN's "NFL Live" is reporting that Zach Thomas says he is intending to play for KC this season, despite Dr. recommendations that he seriously consider retiring.

If he retires, see him being signed instantly as a motivational speaker/coach to linebackers for the Chiefs

this is good in the long run. if he started everyone would have bit@hed that Mays is better. now we dont have to have that disagrement.
