The only one that surprise me is Toomer. I am not Shocked but I thought he would be in the next round if he was cut.

Crazy. I thought for sure Toomer was going to be starting opposite Bowe. Guess it will be Bradley?

I'm a bit shocked about Boone. He was our only DE with any 3-4 experience.

To be honest I hope Ashley Lelie gets the job - he is fast and has already shown he can catch in preseason and for what we got him for it is a steal if he works out.

too bad about toomer. I agree about Ashley he has what only 7 years in the league? he still has the legs and the hands and leadership. besides that he would love to give some payback to some other AFC west teams....lol

No surprises there for me. I like Kolby, so hopefully he makes it back.

It's going to be tough for Kolby, he is already showing reliability issues and being injury prone... It is too bad too.

When Kolby's healthy he reminds me a lot of Priest Holmes. He's a patient back and he's very football intelligent for someone that hasn't had a whole lot of playing time.

Haley seems to be making a statement here a little bit. There's no way that there weren't players who deserved to be cut before Boone and Toomer. I think he used them to say "no matter if youre a veteran or not if you don't do it the way I like I will cut you.". Im not saying it's totally surprising that they got cut but I didn't expect them to be in the first cuts. If anyone deserved to cut first it's Barry Richardson.

just gave boone a chance to find a home

Boone was a guy meant to be a 4-3 DT not a 3/4 end....I get it...plus

DORSEY/JACKSON/MAGEE/GILBERRY***

Gilbery has outplayed boone

i have yet to figure out how Cooper is still around. But then again half our starting o-line wouldn`t make a cut on another team.

Don't let the door hit you on your way out, Sackintosh. Also Herb Taylor. I'm surprised Barry Richardson was retained though. Maybe he'll back up Ndukwe? I sure hope he isn't going to be starting.

Predictions?

1. RB Javarris Williams
2. OG Darryl Harris
3. WR Rodney Wright
4. WR Taurus Johnson
5. CB Jackie Bates
6. DE Bobby Greenwood
7. DE Dion Gales
8. OLB Pierre Walters
9. ILB Jovan Belcher
10. TE Tom Crabtree
11. DT Derek Lokey
12. FS Ricky Price
13. WR Terrance Copper
14. QB Matt Gutierrez

Gutierrez played well, but it was in garbage time against cut list guys. We really can't cut a guy who had 18 touchdowns last season no matter how bad he's been. Gutierrez could be signed to the practice squad.

I'm really not sure if it'll be Copper or Lawrence, but I predict Copper goes since he doesn't really bring anything new to the table, whereas Lawrence brings serious speed and return experience. We may even end up keeping both and cutting Mike Brown, who hasn't done anything in preseason unfortunately.

Can you really compare a guy that actually got to play whole games last year to a guy that is trying to show his stuff in the 4th quarter? Thigpen had his chance.

Jovan Belcher has been playing great on special teams- I would doubt he's getting cut.

Looking at the current roster, we only have 3 tackles: B. Albert, Ndukwe, and B. Rich. I highly doubt they are planning on entering the season with only 3 tackles. If someone goes down, you have nowhere else to turn.

I see us cutting at least 15 more players, and then scouring the waiver wire/free agency for some OTs.

Right now, I think we will cut 2 WRs, 2 TEs, 2 RBs, 1 QB, 3 DL, 2 LBs, 1 CB, and 2 safeties.

That will leave us with one roster position, to be filled by a yet-to-be-named OT.

People I think will get the boot:
Gales, Lokey, Greenwood, Walters, Belcher, Bates, Morgan, Price, Savage, Williams, Gutierrez, T. Johnson, Wright, O'Connell and Crabtree.

Im on the fence about Belcher, I think he is probably pretty decent. If Z. Thomas can get and stay healthy, he is not needed. If Thomas continues to watch from the rehab pit, then Belcher could be an asset.

this was my thought also. He led the team in tackles this preseason
