all the draft is to me is a bunch of kids getting paid for doing nothing.
I just don't believe in paying for something they haven't done yet. Rookies demanding more money than vets make is asinine. Hold-outs piss me off. The NFL needs a rookie maximum clause for the first 2 years.
I've never understood the players union for not taking this money back for the veterans!!Never took a snap or played a down in the league and you want how much? Completely agree with you on this Guru. A rookie pay scale like the NBA. Prove yourself THEN get paid!!:bananen_smilies046:
Rookies in the NFL have a much higher chance of suffering a career ending injury in just one game than other sports.
How are they compensated if they never get the chance to shine?
I understand Guru's point, I'm arguing that the NFL shouldn't have a cap on rookies salaries because the nature of the game involves so much risk for the players that they should be compensated accordingly.
Sort of like combat pay.
If you put a rookie in the starting lineup they are much more likely to suffer injury than in other sports so they are taking as big a gamble as the owner for paying them.
