Chiefs will never win big with Pioli in charge - KansasCity.com
I still think if they would get rid of cassel everything else would fall into place.
We deserve better. One of the most loyal fan bases in all of sports and we are continually given a halfass product.
I remember reading this article back in 2008 after King Carl had resigned (gotten fired) and it made a lot of sense to me then. Although it wouldn't have been the most glamorous way to go about building the team it may have been the most effective.
I just spent the last hour searching for this damned article. I t was written by a longtime Colts fan who witnessed firsthand how a team can be built to produce in only a couple short years and remain competitive for a few more.

Prepare to feel sick when reading it as you begin to wonder what could have been.
i have to agree w/this article, i believe that pioli should get canned at the end of this season if we don't see a BIG improvement.
Just wait till mmo sees this. Maybe he wrote it..nah it's too well written.
Great articles!
I think Pioli is an intelligent guy and there is something going on that none of us know about related to the salary cap. Like the article said, Pioli never just accepts responsibility for his actions. You can't have any person in power, (even the towel boy) not accept responsibility for a mistake and attempt to fix it. Business 101?
If the Chiefs do have a bad year, I'll be the one handing out the pitchforks to get Pioli. (I've already handed them out for Cassel each offseason) I think this is the year he needs to be held accountable for his mistakes...Did he really say that "I didn't do my homework" when talking about hiring Haley?!?!
With that said, I still think that this is a talented team and maybe there's a quick fix somewhere...they can't suck this bad....can they?
I agree with the coaching comment. We now have the Kansas City Browns. If you couldn't see this disaster coming, it's because you don't live in central Ohio and were able to see Romeo at his best week after week in Cleveland. He cannot properly plan for a game. Even as DC for this team, he's been responsible for 10 blow-out losses in the last 22 games. Some at home to very bad teams (a winless Miami comes to mind). You want a team to mimic their coach's attitude and passion. Romeo looks like he's ready for happy hour 10 minutes after they get drilled. That's not the kind of 'do what it takes to win' attitude that gets you to the playoffs. This org has made very bad choices for several years now.
Interesting article, thanks for posting.
I'm really starting to lose my patience with this team. I don't even live in KC anymore, hell I live in a city without a team so effectively I'm a free agent. I could run out and pick any team to be a fan of. But no, I stick with the Chiefs because that to me is what loyalty is. So for years I dish out the bucks for DirecTV so I can get Sunday Ticket and watch the Chiefs lose. After the "Herm Years", all I wanted was for the Chiefs to be competitive. I didn't even need them to win the games, I just needed to see my team fight and be in each game.
After these two games it's like we're back in the Herm Years and if someone in that organization, I do not care who, does not pull their head out of their *** and start making changes right now I don't see how I can bother to put as much passion and energy into the Chiefs anymore. Where is the loyalty from the TEAM to the FANS?
